Are these things a joke???OK, I know you all know what I'm talking about when I say... Who in the hell designed these stock grips???? Talk about thumb blister! To top it all off, I would have to get a whole new throttle tube to put on regular size (width) grips, right?
I don't know that they are all the same size. My buddy's RM-Z450's grip are wider then mine, and they're stock. Maybe Kawi some how put short grips on the standard throttle tube and thought it'd be good enough. My grips are exactly the same width as my hand. I like a little room to move around. I think I might go with the Spider grips or some renthal dual compund- tapered. I had'm on my 500 and loved them.
Here's me gripping the RMZ450 throttle:

Dude, cut those turds off the bars and install a set of spiders. I did and no more blisters. The spiders also dampen the vibs that can run through the bars.

To lengthen the throttle you might be able to cut a 3/4" slice off an old throttle tube to extend the stock one. Not as secure but if you lockwire right before the new section it might be ok. I also have big hands and that short grip would kill me. I would be lucky if my hand fit. Cam.

i am not positive on the 2006 models but in some prevous "new" models (mostly honda) the grip is actually shorter then the throttle tube.

I cut those turds off and got some Renthal tapered half waffel dual compound grips in blue, with grip donuts. So comfy.
