Got a few questions for you out of curiousity.
How much did the KX450F weigh prior to disassembly?
How about now as the 500A?
Looks great, how is the pipe working on power and tuning?

Nice. Your welds, are they Tig or Mig with Argon gas?
-
Hey furiously i did not get a chance to weigh the two bikes but riding them you can tell the difference the 500 is lighter to turn and stop but feels very easy to get more air on jumps the suspension feels more responsive to changes and needs to be soften in spring rates.
Also the welds are all done buy tig not mig thanks

Cool, how is the vibration? The stiffer alum frame has to transmit more of the nasty vibs of the KX5 motor? Diggin' the bike though.

Hey sly i had the crank balanced and you dont even fell any vibs through the alloy frame very smooth
-
Balancing the crank does wonders! Don't expect it to last long though. Mine slowly slipped out of balance as the years went by. But, still was 200% smoother than without it. I have my eyes out for a cheap 450F to start with.

Gowen if you haven't already noticed I'm willing to let my KX450F roller go for $3,000. Or the whole bike for $4,800.

On the east coast. :)

I'm fully capable of putting her in a crate for you.

Come Gowen, Join us on the darkside. I'll send you my case halves and cylinder to use as dummies to set the motor. But you have to send them back when you are done

If I find one at a good price.. I am purchasing a new dirtbike for my wife, but she is leaning more for the CRF250. Can't talk her into a Kawasaki.. I was hoping to score a good frame when she is done. haha.. If I find one for a decent price, I'll more than likely get it and start a project. I'm really hessitant because of lack of riding space. We will see.. Land price is too expensive for a park to open now - a- days here.
-
Gowen a cure for your problem is to pull up the stakes and move to Southern California. It's hundreds of acres of wide open dunes and desert and you can ride year round. Also the fo-fiddy is here waiting for your 06' K5 project bike.

FPMXer, don't tempt me. My wife would love to move to CA. Her best friend lives in San Jose and would love a spot in Aptos and my work would transfer me. Just can't... yet. Maybe one day.

Hey, We all know you had to change the down tube, But i was thinking what about the swing arm where goes through the rear of the engine. Stock 450 f swing fit?? any spacer needed?? Stock swing arm axle?? How about a how to write up these bikes(step by step to get the engine to fit etc)?

All this talk about putting a K5 into that frame is making me want to find an engine and transplant it into my frame. I would want to make it so I can swap the engines out for what ever type of riding I'm going to do. 450 for the tracks and the K5 for the dunes. :|
