Title: has anyone put their KX500 on a dyno
Post by: kx666 on October 07, 2006, 02:52:52 AM
I am curious if anyone out there ran their kx on a dyno, and if anyone has been able to break the 100hp mark?

KX666,
Lots of Dyno results on here.  I don't think the crank will take 100hp.  Seems to be the weak spot when guys get close to tripple digit hp.  Doordie would know for sure. Cam.

a few years back i talked to a guy that turned 107 hp. he was ridding it at coos bay OR. he was running a different crank...i do not remember where it was from. I  was hoping to find someone who has found somthing to work.

He told you it did that, or you SAW it do that?  Big difference.  People seem to lie about the size of their manhood, their biceps, and horsepower. :-D

i didn't beleve it until me kicked my a $$ up a hill... and my kx is not stock nor am i a "kitty", i could not beleve the bike...

he did tell me that he stroked it, but you would have do a lot to clear the cases on one of these. last time i had it split, there was not much room.

i wish the guy would have told me more about his bike,

Hit google with killerkx which throws up this result...

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=killerkx&btnG=Google+Search&meta= (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=killerkx&btnG=Google+Search&meta=)

You can draw your own conclusions as to the accuracy of the figures quoted but unless he is using two and a bit engines I have my doubts.

Either that or the horsepower is measured in Falabellas.

WELL stated. After working and talking to all types of performance "meatstick" riders, and the actuall EXPERIENCED engine gurus, I've learned one REAL fact:90% of the time "joe barstool performance guy" will loose 5 hp, in the process of trying to gain 3 hp.

I never made these claims, I told him he was full s**T. of  but if it was possible.... you cannot tell me you wouldnt want to know if this is possible. :-D

I have always figured that " Barstool horsepower" is double that of actual dyno horsepower.   I also think that if someone elses bike can beat my KX500 up a hill, the person deserves the respect of me asking just what he did to the engine. I have never yet heard of an aftermarket stroker crank, but if it exists, I would like to know more.
I have no sane reason to need more power from my KX, BUT......... maybe just a little more power.

There is no such thing as too much power!

The only larger displacement i know of for the KX5 is the 540 big bore kit from L.A. sleeve, but i would not want to re-sleeve and loose the ability to transfer heat. I run my bike too hard as it is.

Yo...  Arigato!  What do you think my KX5 is putting out for HP?  It sure feels strong yet smooth.

I would say mid to upper 60's...Especially at Dumont.

What are stock wheel HP numbers for the KX?  :|

Supposedly they chuck out a real, genuine 54-55 horse at the back wheel.

For some reason this is more than some manufacturers 60-70 horse though :-D

Maybe they are bigger horses or they are all pulling at the same time instead of some slacking off a bit in their traces.

A dyno of a stock K5 with a tired engine (50 hours) of mine, only modified
to get torque (65.7Nm) wich it did more than I expected.
57 hp is?nt so impressive, but piston leaks blowby after that many hours.

It?s the same power/torque as a Husaberg 650 or a KTM 660 though :-D

Red line is wrong ?cause cool an sputtering engine
Blue is correct.

In a couple of weeks, new barrel and powertuned,
will we see some different numbers (60++).

57 is a pretty LARGE number compared to my 37 hp KXT250.  :-D

Can't wait until my 500 motor and parts arrive! ALready have the Vforce II reeds and reed spacer.
