I just started my gallery with a few photos if anyone is curious. Hughes, I know you asked earlier so here is something to get you going.
-
Keep'em coming, That will be one sweet bike.
-
Hangtime,
I notice you finished the fabrication of the Y downtube. Looks simple (enough) to fab, strong and nice and clean design. good job. Keep the photos coming. Cam.

lol. I can't wait to see the end product. This is along the lines of what I'd like to build myself.
-
Hangtime,
What ex. pipe did you use? Looks like a Pro Circuit CR500?
-
Howdy Fusion,
The bulk of the pipe is CR500, (it hurts just to type that). But three sections were borrowed from a stock KX pipe. The cuts are for a few reasons. One was to get the stinger aligned. Two was to attatch the stock exhaust flange so it would go into the cylinder head. Three was to miss the bottom of the left radiator (1/4") . Four was to get as close the same distance from pipe at cylinder, to largest part of expansion chamber as the KX specs. Five was to miss the coolant tube on the right side of the cylinder. This all took four hands and eyes and two hours. You really need a second person to watch the other side and hold the pipe like no clamp could. I have found someone that makes a nice cone pipe for around $350, but I would have to leave the bike there and his shop is two hours away. Someday I'll have hime make one.
-
Hang,
What shop is that? I have a pipe project that's needs to be done too...
-
Go to inlandatv.com and ask Guy (the owner)them who makes their pipes. You can see a couple examples of their work on that site.
-
The engine is officially in. Reed spacer, Rad valve, Kehin PWK, KX500 boot to airbox, and a plastic adapter plate. All in all not too hard
-
I'm in aw right now, that motor and everything else just looks so nice, I can't wait to see the end product and how everything works out. Just curious too if when your finished up, if we could get some sort of a price list or just the overall cost of a project like this.

:-o stop the torture!!!
-
THE TORTURE CONTINUES GOWEN!!
I finally took it for a ride today, just up and down the street with a lot of caution. The jetting seems on but I hear some ticking. I'm not sure if it is vibration or what, but more riding will help hunt down the noise. I still don't have the new kickstarter, but the old bumpstart technique fired up the beast immediately.

That is one awesome job. I'd pay good money to watch Bubba take it for a few laps.

Did you docment the process so it could help some else perform the same thing? What needed modified, any issues that were hard to over come, anything would be cool. Thanks. Nice job on the bike.
-
Wow! Amazing to see the overall product.. I am in love. That has to be the sweetest KX I've ever seen... Ever. May I ask a rough around budget?
-
Thanks for everyones enthusiasm, it is nice to share something like this with people who can appreciate it. I will try my best to write a comprehensive "how to", but after Ricks "how to" instructions on changing a tire the bar is set pretty high. Destry I saw a crash video of you on this website that makes me hesitate to let you swing a leg over it , and Gowen aint no way in he** you are coming near it. I read your reply to Cam's best crash post!! your lucky to be walking :-D.

Nice.

And double nice. It ain't-no-thang. I don't ask nor have ever asked to ride peoples bikes. I feel like your bike is like your woman, I would never ask to ride your girl. So, don't sweat the thought. But thanks for the offer. ;)
-
WOW! I want one, really really bad!
-
Hey, one question, is can we see the right side of the bike, where the pipe is and such to see how that looks!? Very nice work too, I'll bet it'll be a blast to ride!
-
Here is the right side for you ebers17. Next weds I'll take it to the track for a beating (me not the bike).
-
Your KX500AF looks more than great! You did a very nice clean job. Sorry for not paying closer attention, but what year and model frame did you use ? John
-
you made a really nice bike, its awesome.
-
what is the pipe from, a 250?
-
ok.. it looks like you just rotated the 500 pipe then?? :?
-
Thanks again everyone, the frame is an 06. the pipe is a CR500 with KX500 parts welded on. There is a separate topic regarding the pipe, http://www.kxriders.com/forums/index.php/topic,2525.msg17945.html#msg17945.

Dude........Dude! That is BAD ASS! Good job.
-
thanks for the shot of the right side, I still can't believe how nice everything looks, I think the way the pipe looks makes it even nicer, much sleeker! Just phenominal, and what did you use for the silencer?
Let us know how the pipe worked out though, if theres any performance lost or gained too!
