Hi guys!
Does anyone heard about putting in a conrod of the "reds" and they should be stronger than a stock K5 conrod? :-o
-
I don't know much about it myself but I think scarykxer has one with the CR500 conrod in it?
I think they are also half a mm shorter than the KX conrod and might even have a different bore at the small end bearing.
I remember looking at the specs ages ago when Zanx had the bike that scarykxer now owns but I can't remember the exact sizes of the rods.
With it having a shorter rod it will affect port timing slightly and unless you do something with the head your compression will change.
Aparently it's something the motocross sidecar nutters do :?
<Post edited cos I have had a look on a different thread and CR rods are shorter, not longer and I am more confused now than before>

Have you thought about the Wiseco hot rods? I've heard they are stronger and last alot longer. I've always replaced my rods with hot rods and also replaced crankshafts with hot rod crankshafts when available (limited availablility). Check out wiseco's place for that.
I've heard that the CR rods are shorter to allow more stroke for custom pistons.

Don't they shot peen race car rods to increase the strength? Might work. Cam.

Yes, we do conn. rods, cam shafts, and rear end gears (third member). I shot peened handle bars before having them powder coated. Gave it a cool textured look. Most of the shot peening we do is oil field pipe. Or boaring pipe to make holes under roads and highways. We peen the threds on the pin and box end of the pipes.
Picture shows peened pin on the left.

looking at that picture doordie, you need aircraft quality or titanium for that monster.maybe a throttle stop too. :-)

Thx for inputs guys!

Yes, Wiseco rods are also shot peened among alot of other things as better lubrication and much stronger than stock. I'm a big fan of theirs. http://www.wiseco.com
