Title: Calling all Vegas 500 riders
Post by: serafin on July 17, 2006, 08:32:25 AM
Hi everyone

It seems that there are quite a few of us 500 riders here in and around Las Vegas, (FuriouSly, Zagnut, Arigato, 1alldave and a few others.)  I'm fairly new here and am looking to meet some people and go for a ride and learn where all the good riding spots are.  Right now all I have ridden at is APEX.  So I propose a we all get together for a ride.  Who is interested and what weekends would work?

What up...  I don't do alot of desert riding myself, too rocky and hard on the bike.  Some of the others around here from the site are much the same as me.  We usually hit the Sand Dunes as the primary KX500 territory.  The motor for my KX5 is at the motor builder but I should have it together in a few weeks.  When it cools off, maybe we can plan a trip to Dumont for some riding?

No Doubt...  between the 2 mile long dust trail, 110 degree temps, and the sharp rocks (lava, slate, and other nasty's) its really not as much fun as it used to be for me here in Vegas.  If you ride with friends you can't really hang together real close because of the dust cloud and eating major rocks if you aren't in front.

When it cools down I am usually at the dunes where you can ride together without the dust and rock/roost problems.  I have definately gotten lazy and soft, I must admit.  Now if I had some areas to ride like Timbowe and Kiwi it would definately be a different story ! !    Even the mountain areas that take 3 hours to get to are still very dry and even more dusty.

Would love to come to Texas some time and try your desert/sand areas that you ride in.  Still must be a bit of a sandstorm when you ride though Alan?
