This guy up the street has a 93 xr650L on/off bike. He swears up and down that his bike will take my kx5 all day long. I havent ridden his bike, but I`m not really sweating him beating me too bad. What do you guys think about it, and also has anyone put the kx5 against any street bikes in the 1/8 or 1/4 mile?

Race him for titles and you'll have a 2nd bike to thrash around on....

Hed beat you to the end of a 2mil straight stretch but thats about it

According to what i researched and been told on this site is that the kx 500 won the baja 1000 9 straight times and then withdrew from it after there rider was killed in it. I say thats pretty darn good for a motorcross bike.
2004 XR 600 2004 KX 500

Weight 277 Weight 220
Do the math The KX has 4 more HP and weighs 57 pounds less. The only thing that could offset this is if either of the bikes have been modified. I also looked up the 93 xr 650 and i could only find the xr 600 made in 93 which had 46 hp. So i just compared the 2 bikes at the same years.

The bike is going to have lower gearing then your KX tho and in the long, long run will beat you. Unless you got your bike modded for street then its def gonna win. Is he talking about beating you in dirt or in the street?

His XR-L is a joke. A single cylinder heavy POS. I had a friend that had one that was worth a good laugh and I was able to leave him in the dust on V-Star. My KX runs the 1/8th with my R1. My, now sold, V-Star was a dog and was still able to hand the XR it's ass. You WILL have no issues smoking him, put money on it. Even in the top-end range, unless you are at stock gearing. The XR will bearly pull 95mph.
Now, once I get my 300 rear tire kit and the engine worked on my Roadstar warrior, it's going to have some competition. HAHA! I can't wait!

My best ridding buddy has a XR650R and I can tell you there is no way it could take my KX5 unless it was a long run! Do him for Pinks and pick your race! There is a reason why the owners call them "Big Red Pigs"
They also handle like a turd in the desert boon docking!
Alan :-D :-D :-D :-D

:-D :-D Alan, don't forget this is an XR650L which has less power and is an on-off road. Basicly like a small street bike with dirt suspension is all it is. So, it is about 2/3rds the speed of an XR600R, and about 1/2 the speed of an XR650R. X-D Let's make a cash bet. :-D

What gets me the XR650R is water cooled but the street version is air cooled.

I had a XR600 once. Nice bike at the time. But now theres only one bike for me. 650 is a slug compared.

Ya I dont even thinks its worth my time. Ive been riding almost 3hrs a day, still getting use to the powerband on it. Isnt like my old 02 cr125 8-)
