Hi everyone
I have a 2003 KX500 and its been my understanding that the 500 has been unchanged for several years other than tank color and graffics and 19 in rear wheel. So the question is from what year are they all the same? Also what is the recomended rear sag?

There have been some minor changes from the start to finish. But, looks wise '90-'04 is all the same except the forks and rear suspension valving. Engine/Frame/Subframe/Wheels from '89-'04 is all the same. Forks were upgraded from The forks were upgraded from conventional forks to upside downwards in '90 and then upgraded again in '91 to 43mm. I believe the '94 went again to a new size and so on. Mainly suspension upgrades. Nothing at all major.

I think in 97' they went to 3 bearing rear hub.

The flywheels are very slightly different from about 92 on but the older ones will fit the crank end taper as the crank end is the same part number.
The only reason I even know that is cos my flywheels too old for the Eline accessories 200 watt flywheel weight/lighting coil thing.
I aparently need the later flywheel.

BUMP for an oldie. Couple questions.
Is the 88 KX500 subframe the same as the 89-04?
All I need to run the Eline light kit is a newer flywheel?
