Title: NGK Vs Champion spark plug ?
Post by: kiwikx500 on May 01, 2006, 01:00:51 PM
Anyone running a champion plug in thier 500 ? The NGK's do not seem very forgiving with the slightest amount of fouling if something is not quite right,a great high performance plug no doubt.Does anyone know the champion equivalent ? Would it be safe to give one ago ? Are they still made in the USA champion plugs ? Cheers  8-)

champion plugs are the worst plug. if u think the ngk is unforgiven the champion is twice as worse. try a diffrent size ngk. i run the b8es or br8es and have very good luck with them.

I would stick with the NGK. And work out the little fouling issues setting float height and jetting.

I think N2 is the code for Champion but if you think NGK fouls easily you won't like champion. I bought two on a friday night at autozone because the bike shop was closed and still had to borrow a plug saturday to get my bike to start. Gave them both to the hammer.

I find that often that certain plug brands will run better in different engines.  I find NGK to be superior in most 2-strokes.  I used champion years ago but slowly quit as the NGK equivalents did better in almost every application.  Cam.

NGK all the way!! I use thier platinum plugs in all me petrol vehicles. They give a healthy spark hardly ever foul and last a long time. Quite expensive tho. But you only have to buy 1 for the k5. Pay for what yuou get.

Iridium is the best plug out there, I've been on 2 plugs in 3 years and have never fouled a plug with NGK. (BR8EIX). I've been extremely happy and still comes out a nice goldish tan. I doubt I'd foul a Champion. But I've seen how they run in other bikes and they are crap. Anybody remember Split-Fire?

Iridium's have my vote also! Plugs are the one thing that can leave you stranded, so use the best! :-D :-D

Yep thats them Iridiums. Sweet plugs. Unfortunatley I run 17 of them in all except one of my petrol powered engines. 1 in the kx,2 for the road bike, 6 for the alfa, 8 in the ute! $22 each. But they do last and provide good spark.

Yep working every  day Kiwi. Truck is in the repair shop. hope to get it back end of next week. Still got me other old banger to give me something to do during the day.

When I worked at the airport one of my mechanic friends use to make his own split fires before the came out! He took a real thin slitting saw blade and chucked up into a die grinder and made a small cut and bent the electrode tang open. Who knows maybe he invented it! He he!
