Post by: b0dem on April 30, 2006, 07:38:59 AM
I`m not sure if this is the right place to put this but What do you guys use to clean your engines and swingarm to get all that caked on mud and oil off? I have a 88kx 500 that looks like the previous owner didnt clean to often. thanks in advance

Simple green works really good but I have switched to mean green. You can get mean green at the dollar store. 1/2 price of the simple green and cleans just as good. Both can stain the alumn if you don't pre-wet the bike.

I use the dreaded pressure washer.

Motul moto wash. Spray and wash no scrubbing.

Purple power. But don't leave it on too long. I ruined a subframe that way.

PJ1 Spray & Wash and a tooth brush is the ticket.

I spray WD 40 on the greasy stuff to break it down, then pressure wash it.  I do this on sticky areas like the carb and the front of the cylinder, but never near the linkage or brakes.
