Hey Guy's. After I get my top clamp figured(2000-newer clamp on a 87 500 :-o) out I'm looking at cutting/unbolting my old foot peg mounts and welding new mounts from White Brothers. These new mounts will allow me to use the new style foot pegs like IMS pegs. This will be a summer project but just wanting to think ahead and get any tips from ya'll. My main concern is getting both mount equal on both sides so the pegs are the same height and one not to far back or forward. I will need to get with a local weld shop for the welding. Thanks.

Hughes,
Just my .02 but wouldn't it be less effort (and cheaper) to have the welding shop modify your stock pegs instead of replacing the mounts and pegs? It is quite easy to fab some flatbar additions to make the wider. You can also buy these, or possibly buy some used pegs off a newer KX and graft them onto your stock pegs. Lots of ways to skin the cat. Cam.

You always got more than one way to skin the cat :-D.
Are you saying I can cut the mounting pin off a newer set of kx500 pegs and weld the peg it self to my old style mounting pin? By doing this it would let me keep my old peg brackets. 8-)

Here's pictures of a stock kx500 foot peg with a pic of a new IMS foot peg.

What do you what for the stock pegs? Do ya'll think it would be strong enough just to weld the newer peg to my foot pegs mounting pin? :|

Hughes,
I'm not sure about just welding on the pin mount, but usually it is best to modify the new peg (in this case a newer KX peg) and weld it around//over your old peg (with a bunch cut away). This way most of the old peg mount and structure (& strength) is retained, but you have the new peg boot surface. I did this for my sons PW50 with good results (sorry no pics). If you can, post a pic of your old peg so I can have a look. Thank. Cam.

Thanks. I'll see what I can come up with this week for a photo. I think after I get another set of pegs to look at it will all come together for what I need. Thanks again.

Thanks to Danger4u2 I got some nice pegs off e-bay $29.95. I'll post some pictures of the my old pegs and bracket and the new pegs and see what we can come up with.

Took me alittle while but got those brackets welded on my 87 500 so I can run the new style pegs. Thanks Kxcam22 for the drawing of the bracket which worked great. Here's a photo of my 87 500 with 04 kx500 peg, pins, springs.
