Title: Moose Racing EASY PULL CLUTCH SYSTEM
Post by: 2001KX5 on March 24, 2006, 11:46:35 PM
Any body aware of this or have used it? It looks pretty interesting and I might consider it once I finally get my 500 together and actually ride and feel what the clutch is like.

Yeah it looks pretty trick and obviously uses some kind of internal gear driven reduction system of some sort.  It looks like a real nice and simple alternatice to a hydralic set up.  I know the clutch pull on my KX250 was terrible so if the 500 is a little better than that I can deal with it.  The only thing is my right forarm is large than my left one ;)

I've got one on my 500 and it's ok, better than nothing. I think the one I have is made my motion-pro though. The way it works is that it adds a leverage point, so pulling the entire lever only pulls the clutch arm just enough to disengage the plates.
What I think would probably work better (and as seen on Destry's bike) is a modified/extended clutch arm. But I guess it follows the same principle.

I've used the Easy Pull on a heavy duty clutch CR250. It does its job, but ruins the feel of the clutch. It's hard to say, but I did not like it. But again, it does its job. I'd go with Hydraulic honestly. But, then again.. there is a huge price gap between the two.

The hydro unit is very nice! Light action, allways consistant travel (unlike cable) Adjustable lever (in or out), and simple to install. the only problem with mine was the pull rod on the slave clinder was very thin and snapped on me when at the near end of a ride. Could'nt buy the rod itself, had to buy the whole slave clinder. $45.00 US. When it came it had a much sturdier rod in it. I will mike the new and old rods up and let you know which one to look out for. In case you are given the skinny one. Or can specify the thick model on ordering.
But since the new slave, its done many, many hours activating the clutch with no probs at all. Worth the money.

is the rod separate from the clinder?

You can get the mechanical one for $15. Try it out before you buy the hydrolic one...

The Magura comes all parts included ready for bolt on. $275 sounds about right but by the time it got here and the currency difference was taken into acount, it was quite a bit more. Still well worth the money. Absolute consistancy. Every time you use you're one or two fingers to activate it, it is allways the same tension (Light), and at the same point of bite on the clutch. Which I have gotten very used to now. Cable activated clutches are a thing of the past on my offroad bikes now.
Yes the KTM runs the same Magurs set up. And have done since 2000 in think.

That looks a wee bit difffernt to mine with an extra leaver for holding the clutch in while you are at the gate and have to get off to open it. Mind you this is no good unless you have a stand!  :-D
