Title: aftermarket subframe update
Post by: jpinhb on March 22, 2006, 08:10:56 AM
I just scored a Johnny Severin chromoly subframe for $150.00 . This thing  is flawless , I will post a few pic's in a minute .
He has 1 more left in stock and say's he's not going to build them anymore because there is no demand for them anylonger , so if anyone need's one give him a call at 714-662-0112 .

Glad you got it.  Sucks there's no demand for them.  Better make sure I take care of the one I have.  :|

Nice looking 500. If you bend that sub frame you got other things to worry about :-D :-D

Will he build them to order though?

I have no idea if he'll build them on special order . Might be worth a call to him though .

Here's food for thought. My brother-in-law is an excellent welder/fabricator. He builds custom VW parts and all sorts of things. (we raced offroad buggies for years) His latest work was on a 911 Porshe building oil tanks for a dry sump system. He has all the welders needed to weld on any material. (Mig, Tig, Stick, Gas Torch etc.) He may be willing to fab the subframes if he gets a straight one as a template to make a jig. I could use my frame because to my knowledge it's never been bent. I'll try to get pictures of his work if anyone is interested.

I have a small machine shop and I have been fabricating things for the last 40 years and I that guy is building a quality product out of chromoly it is a hell of a good price!  I wouldn't even have to warm up my pen to figure it out!

I didn't put it on a scale but it was very light . I couldn't really tell a differance by my hand .
