I have added the Google Maps module to the CMS here. If you look up at the menu bar (HOME HELP SEARCH PROFILE MY MESSAGES CALENDAR MAP MEMBER LOGOUT )
You will see a MAP link, you setup your little pin through your profile. Not the easiest but... it works. Once it's set up "you" will appear on the map when you click MAP above. Also if you notice there are several little pins around you, feel free to click on the pins... it'll give you the members name so you can possible hook up for some dirt destroying fun.
Enjoy

The new site just keeps getting better. Thanks
-
That's great Paul!
Before I blew up my hard drive I had mapped all of the Dunes in the country and some of them in Mexico! I guess need to start over! The points I had mapped for Glamis had Oldsmobile hill and you could even see sand rails on the hill and I had Gecko campgrounds and you can see toy haulers!
Cool Stuff :-D :-D :-D :-D

d**n, I just found out there is a bug with IE...
* Goes about fixing it.... *
*** EDIT: Done ***
That was easy enough
(I need to find a smiley of a white guy dancing the butterchurn  )

Hey Guys! I would love to see the Google Map all filled up with member pins! Let's get with the program!
Alan

I do not see the MAP button on the menu bar nor do I see it elsewhere. Hmmm.

You don't see this on the nav bar?
-
No. I checked my layout settings and went through them all. Not quite sure!

:-D N/p
An Error Has Occurred!
Sorry, you're not allowed to view the Member Map.
-
I'm going to take you out of the global mod group and see if that clears it up. Click that link again.
-
still not there
-
I cannot see any way to get to the maps. I used your link and it said I was not alowed to see the members map. John
PS the system now let me add my avatar, it wouldnt allow that for several days.
-
Yeah, we're working on it
-
Anyone else NOT see the map link? I know the newbies and the admins can see the link. I'm looking for anyone in the other membergroups to see what permissions you are missing.
-
No maps here!
Alan
-
none here.
-
I had the map button in the menu bar before, even set up my pin, but it is now gone :(
-
I still don't have the map button!
The Big Green Meanie wants his map!
Alan :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D

It seems there should be a "View membermap" permission in the Admin area and there's not. The Google maps mod writter is working on it, so as soon as i know you'll know ;)
-
I was just kidding anyway!
-
Try it now
-
I see a MAP button! Now to see if it works
-
If you can see it let me know, and get yourself on the map.
-
Seems to be working fine now.
-
Had a slight issue with the map, try and add your pin to the map and let me know if it's not working.
-
Looks like the Map is working, more and more pins each time I look
-
Just some info for what it's worth. I tried to post my location on the map from my home internet connection which is very slow (28.8) and could not. I came to work and was able to get right on the map and change everything T1 connection). So Paul maybe it's not all the sites fault that your having some problems. Maybe it's connection speed of some. (not evetything is as good in speed and power as the old K5!!!!) :-D
-
I tried to place a pin up, but it will not let me. It keeps telling me I'm not allowed to modify profile settings. :?
-
We are still working on finalizing the permissions in the software. When you get to 10 post you will be no longer a newbie and will be able to place a pin! This is just the way he the software is set up, so just participate in some of the discussions and other features will open up to you!
Alan :-D :-D

A couple of things around happen at 10 posts. You can place your location marker on the map, you'll have access to the Coppermine Gallery, you can vote in polls etc... The reason it is this way is to encourage you to partiicpate in the site. We're looking for interested members, not just lurkers. The forum information is available to anyone and everyone without joining the site, but if you join we'd like to know who you are, your interests etc...
-
Cool, sounds like I need to type away.
-
surpassed the coveted tenth post, and made it out of the newbie
rank, but, I am still not seeing the map link up at the top. i would like to put in a pin and see if there is anybody who lives pretty close to me.
thanks, Lhazc
-
I can't see it either!
-
paul, I have no map button visible. I've looked the whole site over.
-
It doesn't exist any longer. The person that dfeveloped it lost interest or something and never made a version to support the new updated forum software.
-
I'de love to see it pop up again! it'd be great to be able to see where everyone is at. I put out a thread a few days ago about locations and only got 1 reply from colorado. thanks for that by the way. I know that this site must take up a lot of time for you guys to keep running. thanks for all your hard work. the site is great!!!!!
-
I'll look for the thread to post where Im at... :-D
-
the thread was( anyone near ?????) thanks.
-
d**n, anyone remember the "free" site that had map and pin hosting?
-
Paul, here is an address to a site that offers free guest pin maps. check it out. ( www.bravenet.com/webtools/guestmap/ ) hope it works out. Marty
-
Thanks for that link maddoggy, I was already working on something else but if it doesn't work I'll take a closer look at that one.
**EDIT **
I had to put that thing in a closable window - it takes up a lot of screen :-D
-
Thanks Paul!
-
I'm impressed with the way you guys keep on maintaining this website!!
Keep up the good work!
Congrats!
//John
-
