Title: What year to buy?
Post by: sbg on December 22, 2005, 12:32:20 AM
I am in the market for a kx100 and would like to know if and when significant changes were made, and if any years of the bike were noted for anything specific.

Is there a cut off date that I should should avoid going past?

Thanks.

As far as I know, there hasn't been major changes to the motor since they actually came out.  Since there's really no other 100cc mx bikes (besides the RM100 which is actually a KX anyway), they really have no competition to out-do.  In 1994, they switched to inverted forks.. Other than that, I think the major changes were purely cosmetic.

If anyone has anymore information, please chime in.  I'm no expert, but this is what I gathered while doing research for my KX100.

Check out this site to see all the different years they came out.

If Its not  to late try for one 98 or later they have the power valve and I think a smother power band. my sons is a 97 w/o the valve and you need to keep it "on the pipe" even with a flywheel weight.
