Hi guys i have an 87 that has rust on the fork tubes but have found a set of 43mm Kayaba forks off a rm250 . Will the internals and inner tubes fit in the kx outers as the axle mount etc is different .
Cheers Shane

Hey mate im on the west coast of Aus and would have to send them over east as nobody over here rechromes them .. I can get some 43mm Rm forks so i thought the tubes mite be an easy swap .

mAKE sure you compare them as there can be differances in length and were the bushes are placed , i say you have to change the lugs over to , you have to un screw the lock bolt that holds the lug and tube together , get the correct tool and heat up that area it should screw out than you need the tool to turn the tube while the lug is held in a vice and apply heat around the lug to soften the locktite and should unscrew , if you dont do these steps it will destroy the thread inside.check the rm forks for size along the length of the tube , no use doing all this if there worn , thats why some forks go thru seals regularly , as well as striped looking marks down the length of tube , dull patches and rust specs.Need to be rechrome.I use radchrome in brisbane to rechrome tubes for my customers.

Cheers mate , i can get hold of a set of 88 forks so that will probably be the easies solution , saves getting gold valves as they already have cartridges installed . Ta for your help :-)
