Dang it, I really hoped they would last.

It is defiantly the future, i felt they were on the cusp of having a lot of new customers. Give it some fresh new technology and someone will build a great 1, and soon. I work for a bus company and am currently getting ready to build an all electric bus in a couple weeks, the battery technology has changed every month foe the past 2 years. We will be offering it with 3 different type of battery packages from 3 different manufacturers. And they can charge from 15% to 75% in 15 minutes. Alto will find a buyer/s or get new investors and they better quickly before ktm and yamaha have something rolled out or they will be well, what they are currently

I think if they moved out of the Bay Area and up North they would have cut about 1/3 to 1/2 off their labor costs...
Sad to see them go.. It is the future..

This company seems like a natural fit for Tesla. Electric street bikes to complement its cars, and electric dirt bikes to go in the back of their new pickup trucks.

BRP (Sea Doo, Ski Doo, Rotax engines) has purchased select assets of Alta Motors. Probably spells the end of Alta’s American manufacturing.

"BRP has no interest in restarting operations of Alta Motors and assumes no liabilities."

Aaaand, put a fork in it...

Yeah, I read that later.  Alta is done for.  Sad, as their bike was really starting to be something special.  Why can't an American firm make a dirt bike that lasts?  Is Austria or Italy a better manufacturing location than here?

One of our local big Dealers had a display of them and they looked good to me. The bicycle looking off road bikes I have seen seem like they would be pretty cool.

I never understood why so many companies start out in California.  It's so much more expensive for labor and land, not to mention taxes and fees.
