Does anyone know if there is a 240mm rear rotor available for the KX500 rear wheel without having to go the KX450f route? My stock 220 tends to heat up during heavy woods riding.

i have had custom larger disc made , u need to modify your carrier , i would try to use kx450 stuff if i was going down that road but if it fading in the bush tracks make sure you have fresh brake fluid and your not dragging the rear brake . may be add some cooling fins like some of the guys do on this site.

Or... get rid of that heavily vented stock rotor and get something a bit more modern for it.
It makes a difference.

Yeah I use the rear brake a lot to slide the rear end around in turns. I already have an after market vented rotor. Maybe I need to try some different pads as the way I know it's hot is it begins to squawk and gets touchy after 15 minutes of hard riding

Good pads do make a difference.
More aggressive pads will stop you easier but they also wear the rotor's out quicker.
Or, just quit foolin around and make yourself something special..
