I am having and issue with my 2000 kx 250.
I am having a hard time getting it started and once I do it smokes really bad and I have a huge pile of oil right behind the front tire and it then bogs down and dies. I can not get it to start again until I let sit for a while. When I bought it he said the engine has been rebuilt.

Check the reed block. Sounds like a broken reed. may aswell clean the carby out at the same time. start with the simple things first.
Air, Fuel, Spark and compression

Hey Oklahoma580, welcome to the site. Where are you located in Oklahoma? The site's owner, Danger4u2, and I are in OKC. If you're close by, I wouldn't mind taking a look at it to see what's up.

Never ever trust or believe anyone that spews those words!
I myself, would just pull the engine right outa the cradle and tear it down, and go through the whole thing....as I do with every used bike I purchase. Inspect everything, and replace anything that looks questionable.
