Title: Kx250 rear brake keeps seizing
Post by: Hmfc83 on December 21, 2016, 05:19:06 AM
Hi my kx250 1999 model rear brake keeps seizing up after a few hours of use. I've renewed the calaper piston brake pads brake fluid the lot but still it locks up could there be a problem with the master cylinder ? Or if that was failing would I have no brakes any help ?

it sounds like the caliper needs to be completely disassembled, and thoroughly cleaned/inspected, and be sure you don't need to replace any parts.

a rebuild kit for the master wouldn't hurt...I've found it's best to use oem parts when rebuilding masters, on a couple occasions.

be sure your brake pedal is moving freely/smoothly on the pivot pin too....any sand or corrosion, can cause issues as well.

The calaper was total stripped and cleaned the peg seems fine. It's like it over heats and locks solid for about 10/15 mins then it will fully release and I can nurse it back to the van. I could get a replacement seal for the master cylinder tonight but won't be able to fit it till tomorrow and then wait for a break in the weather to try it out but many thanks for the reply 👍🏻
