Title: foggy oil window

I have 2000 kx500 and the oil window gets foggy.Is this normal or is my impellar seal bad.

When you lean the bike over does it clean the fog ? Is it
foggy when it's hot, how about when its cold ?

Mine has done the same but my coolant level never changes. The gear box has a vent on the back side. Maybe just the humidity in the air.

Its only when its hot and doesn't go  away tell it cools down.I think you are right hughes, I didnt think about that

I agree, humidity. If it's coolant breach into the trans it will
foam, turn milky, and show over full real fast.

I had a problem with this for a while.  I would end up with about a half an ounce of clear water in the oil each time I rode.  I run red Prestone antifreeze in the radiator so the color would be a pretty good tracer.  I finally ran a clear 3/8" vent hose vertically up into the airbox and problem is solved.  If you have a major leak the transmission oil will look like a milkshake.   :cry:

That's a good idea to run the vent into the air box. I bet most water would come from washing or riding through water.
