I have 2000 kx500 and the oil window gets foggy. Is this normal or is my impellar seal bad.
-
When you lean the bike over does it clean the fog ? Is it
foggy when it's hot, how about when its cold ?
-
Mine has done the same but my coolant level never changes. The gear box has a vent on the back side. Maybe just the humidity in the air.

Its only when its hot and doesn't go away tell it cools down.I think you are right hughes, I didnt think about that
-
I agree, humidity. If it's coolant breach into the trans it will
foam, turn milky, and show over full real fast.

I had a problem with this for a while. I would end up with about a half an ounce of clear water in the oil each time I rode. I run red Prestone antifreeze in the radiator so the color would be a pretty good tracer. I finally ran a clear 3/8" vent hose vertically up into the airbox and problem is solved. If you have a major leak the transmission oil will look like a milkshake.

That's a good idea to run the vent into the air box. I bet most water would come from washing or riding through water.
