Title: NO START!
Post by: tls90lx on August 25, 2016, 05:09:58 AM
Bought a KX500 last fall, ran good when I bought it, took apart to restore it, never touched the motor though, put back together...wont start. Getting fuel and has spark...just wont fire? Any ideas or tricks out there? Thanks

If it was me, I would try some fresh fuel and a fresh plug.  If that doesn't work, try cleaning the carb and filter really well.  It's probably something little (unless the compression is low or the motor is making noises).  The good news is that you have spark, which is the more elusive of the two elements.

Earlier this month my 250 ran fine one day and no start the next. Spark was there but didn't look quite right. Ohm tested the stator terminals under the tank and found the numbers a little off. Swapped the stator and started in 2 kicks.

I know the rag's bitten me in the past....now a days, I triple-check when putting things back together.
