Title: Putoline light or medium gear oil in 2 stroke?

Dont know if this is a silly question or not? :?

Im building my 1999 KX250 and my friends 1996 RM250
 I was wondering what gear oil to use as i have 1 bottle of light and 2 of medium putoline gear oil and i do t know which is better to use.

you know whats been working great for my k5's trannys? mobile1 racing t synthetic motorcycle oil.. can get it at most any parts store and walmart
