Title: Lower fork tube ?
Post by: reklessj on May 15, 2016, 02:56:56 PM
So while I was cleaning my bike today I noticed that when I got lodged in the rocks at the D38 GP, I scratched up my lower fork tube. Doesn't feel real rough and don't see any leaking from seals yet but coating is down to dull metal. What should I do? Run it till I have an issue, that's the way I normally roll? Who does a good job of recoating?

Fill in with clear nail polish and then polish smooth.

What would I smooth it with?

I would oil some high grit sandpaper, something like 1500-2000.  Done that in the past on some old 70s enduros and it worked out well.  Just take it slow and check your work periodically with your fingernail.
