Hey guys, first time post after a long time of lurking.
I am replacing the oil seal and bumper on the rear shock of my 1992 KX500, but the seal kit did not come with a new lock nut and I can't seem to find a replacement that fits the 1992 year.
Any KYB parts I have found (like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Technical-Touch-USA-Shock-11401-90526/dp/B004JAX7HA/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1461961412&sr=1-1&keywords=kyb+shock+lock+nut ) are for 1994 or newer. Anyone try the newer bolts on their bike?? Or is my only option an OEM seal kit that includes the nut?
Thanks! :-)

I remember seeing that those are sold as two parts. Since the rebuild kit is the exact same as the Honda CR500, I believe you can just buy an OEM honda nut (which they sell separately). Someone with a little more knowledge/experience than I should be able to confirm this. The part number for that is 52438-KA3-731, it looks like a 12mm hex nut, not sure if that's the size of the one in your link you posted? If you wanted to completely rebuild your shock, the kit is 129994600801 (don't believe that comes with the nut). Best of luck!

Use red lock tight torque up and peen the shaft end with a pin punch to stake the nut

Thanks for the replies!
I ended up ordering a slightly different one that is a 12x1.5 (http://www.amazon.com/KYB-LOCK-NUT-12X1-5/dp/B002OPX2S6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00) If it doesn't fit I will find a Honda one to try. Hopefully this one works out.

It worked! Got it put back together and filled with nitrogen!
