Post by: Moven605 on March 20, 2016, 02:29:01 AM
my ignition makes a noise on my 2006 kx 250 so I opened the gap up on the stator to fly wheel gap now it is hard to start. so is there anything else I can do or is there a different ignition I can use?

Thank you  It's like a spark knock or predetation only under a load or the power .Kawasaki put out statement on it and said to open gap to 1mm and it takes care of spark knock but it gets hard to start I've own it since brand new I'm fixing it back up and wondered if I could make it better  . Thanks

ahh...I didn't know Kawie had put out a statement about it.

if it's just detonation/pining, which is what it sounds like by your description, you could try upping your octane a bit...by mixing 25% VP-C12 and 75% pump fuel for your pre-mix.

there are a couple members on here running "R" models...our member zz3gmc comes to mind 1st...he may know of the report Kawie put out, and know what was done to cure it...you can try sending him a PM.

My 07 does it once in a while. Way up top. I just sent the head out and had more comp put in it and had the squish altered. It runs much better now. More bottom with a smoother transition into the mid range. I run strait 110 octane fuel. I havent messed with the air gap yet but have considered it.
