Title: Top end question
Post by: 99tjrockcrawler on June 25, 2005, 04:14:01 AM
This summer I am starting over on my 500.  I screwed up before with my pipe and reed valve and gearing.  Something was off and it seemed slower.

Now I have a FMF desert pipe and v-force 2 reed valve on the way.  Had pro circuit and 1Dir racing reed valve.  I am also going to pull the top end and get it ported and polished.

Should I put new rings on even if I had good compression and everything looks ok??

Yes.  That way you start off with everything fresh.

We will have to get together.  Like I said before I try to goto the dunes at least 2-3 times a month in the winter.  Will keep in touch and let you know how it goes.

Just went there couple weeks ago for memorial day..  I did not like it too much.  I will not be riding for the rest of the summer.  It's lake season for us now and I am going to take my time fixing the bike and we are also moving in a few weeks so I don't want to tear it down until after we move.
