Title: KX250 engine number.
Post by: GRARA on August 26, 2015, 12:22:00 AM
Looking for some info on the engine number on a 98 KX250 im thinking of buying..
Its KX250KE00131? Ive looked on other sites for this number and its not showing this as being a 98?
Also just after the number 131 there is pitting on the casing like the numbers at some point have been removed and re-stamped....does this sound suspect to anyone lol...should i walk away?
Any help much appreciated

According to Sandblaster's engine ID page, that number is a 94-96 model, but I believe it's missing a number at the end.  If it looks like it's been tampered with, I would call your local PD with the VIN to see if the bike itself is stolen.  If not, then just do your normal checks and ride it to see if you like it.  If it's not stolen and you like the bike, a year or two older engine is not necessarily a deal breaker.  Good luck!

Same page, compare your cylinder number as well as your carburetor number and you might be able to narrow the range down further.
