nice, that thing's pretty clean!...I see it's pretty much all original OEM everything...exhaust, graphics, chain & sprockets look original...very cool.

lol now it is, I gave her a good bath as I pulled everything apart. ya I got lucky, now I got the engine in pieces on the table and waiting for the piston kit to show up :)

excellent....what brand of piston did you end up going with?
while you have it apart, it wouldn't hurt to disassemble the KIPS valves, and give them a good cleaning, if you haven't already.

oh I don't know what name brand buddy ordered all I know it was almost 300 bucks for it lol. that's a good Idea i'll do that too thanks :-)

Welcome and I must say that is a nice bike wish my first bike was as nice. Plus in my opinion there is no better way to get aquainted with it then to take it apart and get "personal" with it I think that gives you a better understanding of whats right and more importantly whats wrong with it as items wear or become out of adjustment. Again welcome .

Welcome!
Nice! Very clean looking. What damage did you find when you opened it up?

thanks. I found lots of deep gauging in the cylinder around the exhaust ports due to rings fusing to the piston. and the piston was all pounded out on the exhaust side. other wise everything else was fine, needle bearings were fine, connecting rod was fine so new cylinder and new piston.
