If you could have five bikes that you have owned and/or do own to take with you to a fantasy land of dirt bikes only, what would they be?
My Top Five (in no particular order)
2003 KX/KDX Hybrid
2004 KX 250
1987 Tecate 4 - man I regret selling that one
1985 KX 125
1983 KX 80 - my first race bike
-
Only 5... man this is a hard one...
1) KX500 duh..
2) 2000 Husqvarna 125 <3
3) 1996 Husqvarna wxe 360 What a bike....
4) 1996 KDX 220 The worlds fastest slow bike
5) 1996 Beta Techno 250 It's fat and slow but you can only go fast for so long :-D
Sure I could have picked the 14' Beta or the 14' KTM but there only modern bikes for now... Difference in the 14 beta 300 and 14 ktm 250? nothing... the air pressure in the tires... the grips... nothing. The difference in the 360 vs the 500?!? the 220 and the 125? ^ 5 bikes that feel soooo far from each other yet you can still have the same amount of fun, variety, that's what I want in my fantasy land.

& a "new" 300 beta or ktm
I think the variety idea is great, so many types of terrain or adventures
I'm an idiot, like that's news. Stuff you've owned, duh.
Building the rally twin so that counts right
AFKX550, rocked, tight to work on small fuel tank but excellent bike. Working on helping it get shipped to Thailand for the friend that bought it.
86 CR500 Got it still, Magoo telling Honda more power
1983 YZ125 , Just a fun bike
1995 RMX250 Gets no love yet just goes & goes

3 outa 5 were dirt bikes!
In the realm of fantasy I would have one of the carbon fibre framed bikes with a bored and stroked k5 out to 640cc to push it along with a motard setup. A KTM 300 for bush bashing. Talent, I really need talent still haven't found a shop that sells it though.
-
I have also read on another forum a chap who going to put a CR500 engine into a TM 300 motard just for giggles. This bike I would also like!
-
'83 CR125...couldn't kill it, period!
'88 KX250...my 1st green bike, that unfortunately got stolen 2 months after buying it brand new.
'91 KX250...waited for the 2nd year of the new generation chassis, for the bugs to be worked out.
'93 KX250...the bike I turned "A" rider on.
and my '95 KX500 I presently ride.
I had several KX250's in between, but these were my fav's.

Surprised at the year variation going on here, you'd think you guys that have owned newer bikes wouldn't look back. Some of the older stuff must not have been complete trash :-D

I think older bikes get a bit of a pass as you get further and further away from owning them. Kind of like I get better as a young rider the older I get. :-D I guess I picked the older bikes because of what they meant to me at the time. I'm sure my son's 05 125 would make that 85 look like a turd, but it was a "Works Replica" when I had it. I was just like Jeff Ward! At least until I fired it up and had to ride it. :-D

Nostalgia factor, totally get that. I want a gs1100ez Suzuki just for that reason, I know it won't live up to the past though. That & I can't afford to drive like that again. Off-road is better anyway , no speed limits  Would be funny as hell to watch a fish cop try
