Title: 1987 vs 1986 output shafts? look identical diff part numbers

I bit and bout a shaft in excellent cond was only $25. The gears are shot. Anyhow I have an 86 where I modded for a circlip that I can still use if didn't work.

My question even though the shafts share same parts why would the part numbers for the output shaft be different. Anyhow guess it's a longshot but I'll see.
