Title: 86 Tecate clutch cover
Post by: zz3gmc on November 02, 2014, 11:16:09 PM
Anybody know if a 86 Tecate clutch cover will fit a 86 KX250? I think the gasket is the same.
How about the Tecate powervalves, are they the same?
Thanks.

the 86 and 87 T3 used the 86 kx 250 base engine I think the trans was geared differant and had differant ignition maybe porting but the parts all interchange  as far as the top ends are concerned the kx was a one year only the clutch covers might have more years to swap with.

I know the trans definitely fits, I have the 4th and 5th gears in mine. It was actually offered as a wide ratio kit through kawasaki. The ignition was offered in kit form also, for lights and the heavier flywheel. My 86 has a cracked but welded up clutch cover but I noticed a bunch of nice Tecate clutch covers and powervalves on Ebay. I also read somewhere that the cover gasket is the same between the KX and the Tecate. I may chance it and get them, they were relatively inexpensive. Thanks for the help.
