Hi Ben,
I just bought this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Electrosport-Industries-Stator-ESC1151-/331286985467?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1987%7CModel%3AKX250&vxp=mtr&hash=item4d223e3afb
It didn't solve my hard starting/backfire problem, but the spark now is stronger and more consistent.
The wires leads on mine were about 2 in. shorter and the bigger coil rubbed a little on the stator shaft. I was able to push back some of the wrapping tape so it doesn't rub as much.....
Better than what I had so I'm OK with it.
dinky,

I think they are made in China.
Not everything made in China is junk.
There seems to be a few unhappy customers out there warning against buying one but in my experience, no matter how hard you try you can't make everyone happy.
That is especially true with electrical components.
According to their sales manager they warranty them for a year.
I won't run one in my bike (Oem or MZB for me) but that's not to say that they are bad.
I think we should track everyone's experience that has one so we can develop a track record on them.

for 100 bucks Im willing to give them a go
thanx

I have one in my '03 250....I've had no problem, and I've had it on about 4 years...I've also put a 13oz FWW in there too. I am using it as my source for my lights (my bike is street legal trail woods bike). Puts out enough juice to make me legal.

$15 on ebay will buy enough coil wire to wind about four or five stators. You can make them as "hot" as you want or stock if you like. It's easy as pie to rewind your own. Buy an old used one and some wire to practice with.

You should write a how to article and show us how.... I know I would appreciate it..

Started pulling the wire from the old one Ill give dat a go whats the wire called do u have a link to the exact wire i need to use
-
I have some scabby coils I wouldn't mind freshening also
-
i think i need a step by step for this one

You have to know the stock Guage wire to order replacement wire. I'll dig mine out today. So far I've done only atv stators but a bike stator is usually a lot smaller and the principle is the same. I'll post later today. It's easy!

Be aware that not all are three phase stator! ! Use this guide to see how they wrap but use your own eyes to see if yours is one wrap that goes from post to post, not one wrap that skips a post. In a three phase, you literally have three separate "banks" that connect on one end as a floating ground and the other ends connect to one yellow output wire for each stator (three in total). I haven't looked to see how a kx is wired.

Looks pretty simple its just wound on their How do i tell what sort of wire i need cant find any info on wire gauge for stock stator?

I'll look at my stator on my 2000 250kx and compare it to my spool of 18 gage wire. I'll let u know.

I'm an idiot! You're just wanting to rewire the coils! Lordy, disregard all the stupid s**t I've posted lol. Those coils are dead simple. I'll measure the gage later for u. Man I'm sorry but that! That link I posted is useless for simple coil-bobbin windings. For some reason I forgot that a kx only has a simple stator setup. I've been describing three phase generator stators.
