Anyone done, or seen, a KX500 engine in a newer KX250 chassis? How difficult would this be? I would love to buy a 500, but the thing is SOOO outdated. Although I don't blame Kawi for never updating it. Any ideas?

Check the search out. Rocket science an outfit that supply a kit to Kx500 a alloy frame 250. Theres a few threads floating around here.

I believe the rocket science kit was a steel 250 frame modified to accept the 500 engine and other parts? It used the 250 plastics so it looked alot newer cosmetically. I really cant find any decent info on it so I'm not 100% sure. I'm going to get a 2000 or newer rolling chassis (any brand) and transplant the kx500 engine. Hopefully I will find a roller by the end of summer and start the swap.

The one RocketScience Racing Kit/Bike that I saw did not impress me. After seeing a few CR500AFs, the RocketScience Kit looked like a Monster Garage production. The Service Honda 500s look like they are from Honda and look sweet. I'm waiting for the new KX450f and have someone put a KX500 motor in it. Now that'll be SWEET!!!

The rocket science kit was expensive too from whaT I remember ($1,500 for a frame??). There are a ton of guys who Have built cr500af's themselves. Seems to me a kx250/500 would be easier. No alum to weld. Although I think the steel is a chromoly that has to be heat treated after weld (or something like that). Maybe we should all start making our own 250/500 conversions and post all the info on how to do it in one thread.
I know I could pick up a 98-2002 kx250 locally for around 1500-2000. Probly make about 500 selling the 250 engine on evilbay.
