As you all know the pre 94 K5's have the smaller shifter spline, and getting quality replacement shifters for a reasonable price can be challenging. I found this out, becasue EVERYONE seems to sell the K5 shifters with the larger spline. I discovered a nice little trick. Order a shift lever for a 2001+ Yamaha YZ250F. Fits perfetcly, good price

And just in case some here might have missed it, you can replace the smaller splined shift shaft with a newer larger splined shift shaft and use a shift lever for a KX450F. I used one from Hammerhead that is 20mm longer then stock... I really like it..
