A buddy of mine told me that the way my bike is geared i shouldn't ride it on the road. Its a 13t or 14t on the front and a 56t on the back. He said theres too much torque and i would ruin my gears, true or not?

I dont know if it makes a difference but it has vforce reeds and a pro circuit platinum pipe and exhaust, other than that its stock.

you have a very short gearing...  standard is 14-47 ...

So if I put the original sprockets on it, I could ride street?

I'm not clear on the original question.  Are you referring to the k5 not having a cush hub?

My friend said that the way my dirt bike is geared, i have too much torque to ride it on the road. Said I would ruin my tranny

Cush hub is rubber buffers that dappens the shock/torsion applied to the rear huband by extension the nipples and spokes and rim....like on a klr650 (best enduro in the world).

If u dont use a tire that gets a great deal of traction...u should be fine as far as the rear hub is concerned...

no, it doesnt have one of those, just googled it. its all stock except the previously mentioned

with the stock gearing 14-47 you could ride it on the road thats a good compromise for everything...  if you want to have a faster bike you have to gear it up to 14-40 or simply add a 15 or 16 sprocket to 15-47 or 16-47 ... 

you could simply calculate the rate of the gearing that you want. divide the rear sprocket and front sprocket.

for example:  47 / 14 = 3,357  thats the gearing rate.
 if you want a faster gearing the rate must get smaller like: 47 / 15 = 3,133 
 if you want more torque for offroad or mx, the rate must be bigger like 50 / 14 =  3,571

and now i wish you much fun by testing the right gearing for your needs...   8-)

Be carefull about running a 16T front sprocket, I tried it when I was goofing around with gearing for high speed ice runs, and you can't run a 16T on a stock case. The sprocket guard bosses interfere with the chain. If you want to saw off the posts then you are ok. The biggest I could fit was a 15T. You have a ton of choices with the rear , so no real need to run a 16T up front. I ran 15/45 and that was pretty good for high speed blasting at lesser rpm's on logging roads. Keep in mind as you gear higher for speed you loose a fair amount of acceleration..

Running a 16T on my Supermoto....
No issues except I had to move my shift lever down a spline or two so I didn't grind it while up shifting  :-)

thanks for all the suggestions, will probably spend the winter ordering parts, i hate snow
