Title: Drain plug
Post by: Foxx4Beaver on July 23, 2014, 10:44:11 AM
I'm sure there's plenty of guys out there that have done this before...it may even be posted on here already somewhere.
To help save the threads in my cases(the only things I did not replace in my last rebuild), I had my best friend drill out a brand new OEM drain plug, and tap it for an M6.
The main plug is Yamabonded in, I don't even touch it unless I have to....and the M6 gets a coating of Yamabond on the threads each time I do an oil change.
Then he also drilled out a nice wire tie hole to go through the whole setup when done, so's not to lose it...I just use a small cotter pin.
I've got somewhere around 16-17 oil changes with this setup, and no leaks or issues...other than the oil drains a little slower :-)
