Title: 2006 kx500af Conversion Newbie
Post by: crooscroos on July 16, 2014, 04:34:24 AM
Hi everyone! I am just starting my kx500af project and I have begun to order parts. Just thought ide start a post to see if you guys have any suggestions or blueprints for parts!

I am using a 2006 kx250f chassis with a 2001 kx500 motor. I have some frame rails from JFab on the way. I think I'm going to go with a 2000 cr250 airboot, however, if anyone has a blueprint for an adapter plate that would be great.

I have heard of these frames breaking if the headstay isnt made properly. I plan to cut the old headstay, move it over about an inch, reweld it, then make my own triangular mounts. I also plan on adding a headstay to the front of the frame (I see that many people are doing this). If somebody has a design for the front headstay please let me know. Also, I was hoping for a way to reinforce the frame rails. Have you guys had any success with doing that?

Any input is greatly appreciated
Thanks, crooscroos

I grew up in Tillamook, Oregon. I live in Tillamook for the summer and Corvallis for the rest of the year (I am attending Oregon State for accounting and finance).

I've already talked with Sandblaster a little bit! There are a ton of great people on here. Maybe someday I'll meet up with a few people for a ride day! I do the OMRA events in Oregon every now and then! I'm planning on the 24 hour race near Goldendale this year!

If I get my AF finished there is a good chance. Otherwise I'll be riding my 2007 YZ250. I'm trying to sell my 2011 kx250f thumper!
