I submerged my kx 500 underwater trying to stupidly cross a small riverbed, after it had rained for 3 days straight.
Took 2 other guys to help me get her out.
All I had to do to get her running was a new spark plug, new head & base gasket (found out was piston was installed backwards, as it took about 100 kicks to start prior, so me flooding her was a blessing in disguise)
Also, had to flip her upside down after the spark plug was removed and push the kick lever down over and over to get the watery sediment out of the jug. Then had to lift her up vertical to allow the water to drain out of the exhaust. Drained the carburetor bowl, cleaned air filter, replaced soaked, murky oil.
Bike pulls like a tractor now, but have to change the crank case seal, as my tranny oil is getting to my cylinder, and my exhaust is smoking. (more than it should)
Impressed by this engine.
Income tax time, ill spring for a total rebuild, just want to put in a right side seal and pray that I can get through 2014 as is.
Sorry for rambling.

Have to split cases to do it. :|

if its too hard to split, just keep riding it till the case comes apart real easy ;)
