Hi, what's a good after market clutch kit. Do you need to apply grease to the water pump shaft seal outer lining only? Do "Part Shark World" use OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts? they seem allot cheaper then getting original parts through an Australian Kawasaki supplier. Thanks Ray

there are a lot very good aftermarket clutchkits on the market for the 83-2004 kx500... like EBC, LUK.... combined with a very good gearbox-oil like motul transoil.. are they all better than oem-clutchplates... :wink:

i have now a brand new EBC-clutch-kit in my 87 kx250 (exactly the same like kx500 83-2004),
because i smoked it in the last race at 29.june . story: won the start, was leading 2 laps, then i lost the gearlever and tryed to ride the rest of the race in this high gear, that was actually in. so i smoked the clutch and had to quit the race. i could roll the bike with pinned gear back to car.
yesterday i fixed all with new gear lever,good used shift shaft with better splines and new clutch kit. runs like new. :-D

I've tried several aftermarket clutch's/kits over the past 30+ years....and though most are good...I've yet to find one that can match the PRECISE feel at the lever that the OEM aluminum/fiber clutch gives. Yes, a lot of oil changes go on at my place...but the only other clutch kit that I can say I truly like, is the COMPLETE clutch pack from Hinson, meaning the basket, inner hub, all plates, pressure plate, springs. Unfortunately they're as hard to find for the K5 as a sac of cash holding $10 mil at your front door...but I have run them in previous 250's I've owned.

The clutch plates for the 06-11 KX 450 are the same as the 500. Just the springs are different. You can get a friction and plate kit and run any spring you want. Opens up more possibilities.

Thanks for the info. A little concerned about ordering my clutch through SHARK PART WORLD they say they are OEM but seems to cheap to be true :-)
ps. I use Motul synthetic gear box oil "great gear"

How much? I am running a Tusk clutch right now, my cost was like $36 and with 250 miles of beating it, it is not missing a beat.
