I've used 1 and it works well. It can take a good bit of metal off if you are re-profiling the blade angle. I feel like if you don't have the time to get really good with the stone and strop then go for it, but with some practice you can get a better edge freehand and at a fraction of the cost.

I have always been well known for how sharp I can make a pocket knife by hand. Some friends are afraid to use my pocket knife...
BUT.
All my kitchen knifes are dull. and I like a 70/30 edge on them. which is a pain by hand. AND. I now later in life. have some VERY expensive knifes.
My personal kitchen set that ONLY I use. as a rule in the house. is worth $1000 as it sits. used..
I also have TONS of buck knifes. my neighbor growing up had more stock in buck than anyone besides the buck family. and was personal friends with the Buck's. So.. needless to say I have ALOT of rare knifes. and all my serial numbers match. I dont even want to know what a collector would pay me for all of them.
So back to that. Sharpening my Kitchen set by hand scares the living s**t out of me for some reason.
so was looking at the wicked edge kit. as I have always had a strange passion for SHARP knifes. ever since I was in grade school...

This really isn't much help, but on the subject of knives...
I got a Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker that I haven't even used yet, but when I do I can give some feed back.
I recently got a few knives. I got a Svord Peasant Knife and a Svord Drop Point Deluxe.

Here is a pic of the Peasant Knife after I made a lanyard and sanded/finished the handle:

I'm into the rustic and cheap yet functional stuff with a good patina...also I'm poor. The next ones I'd like to get are from Jeff White.

Okay. I can totally see where this can be addictive.
I currently go down to 0.5 micron on sharpening and already want to go lower

I know you got the upgraded kit but do you have all the strops?
