Title: Hinson KX 500 baskets
Post by: Maicoman on March 28, 2014, 04:34:00 AM: I spoke with Hinson today about making a run of 500 baskets. Was told the minimun would be 50. And half up front.

Did a search on the site about Hinson maybe making some, and couldn't find an answer. So I gave them a call.

Also checked out a guy who used to make SS inserts. It appears he has passed away. Storman Norman was his name.

Really don't want to buy OE.

I'd rather see the whole sha-bang available as a bolt on kit...basket...inner hub.. pressure plate/springs...fiber/metal plates, an entire Hinson clutch pack for the $1K they go for.

Post by: KXDINO on March 29, 2014, 08:48:39 AM: I got 2 k5 I would buy one but I don't know why Hinson are so worried about selling them there a market for them ,it take time for other guys to find out plus they will only buy one the other basket worn out ,it wouldn't cost them much to do it,didnt they make baskets before for the k5?I think they don't realize how many guys have these bikes out there and sooner or later will need a new basket .Keep up the good work men lets get this happening.

I remember reading an article about Stormin Norman making clutch basket inserts in an article of Dirtbike in about 1990 or so. Few years on and I got my 500 and I searched for information on the same bloke and found nothing. Seems that I found my answer a bit late now.
That' a shame as he had a good reputation from what I read.
