Well..... some thieves broke into my shop last night and got my sand bike
I would sure like it back but don't expect to ever see it again.
I was working on my two piece clutch cover so the clutch cover was still attached by the radiator hoses.
As they were rolling it out, the governor fell out.
So at least I have a souvenir and some pics :-D
I have posted ads all over Craigslist Oregon.
If you see my bike in New Jersey give me a heads up.
I'd love to take a relaxing trip back east.

A special note to the thief:
This bike isn't really rare, it's not very new, however, I know every detail on it. So if it ends up on craigslist anywhere in the USA I will see it. If I see any parts from it on eBay I will see them and know that they are mine. Due to the nature of the bike and who I am, many many people know me and what my bike is. So if your riding with other people, your taking a huge risk. Yes, you can grind off the serial numbers and strip it down but there are so many special hand made mods to the engine and other parts that I will know they are mine and you will be caught. Yes, you can spray paint it and put some stickers on it but why waste the time and take a risk of going to jail?
Return my bike, no questions asked, and I'll have $1000 cash to put into your hand.
Thanks.
Mike

WTF!!....I hope you get the mother f**ker(s) and burn em til they die.
I know that horrible gut turning feeling all too well also.
I'd rather get jumped by some thugs, take an a$$ whoopin, and have my wallet stolen rather than one of my bikes/toys.
-
Am I understanding this correctly.....You are going to give the thief the 1000 reward if they have a change of heart? :?
Sorry about the terrible news blaster. I sure everybody that reads this cringes at the thought of loosing their babies
-
Ughhhhhh that makes me furious. Ill keep an eye out here in the NY, NJ metro area. I would love to go take a stolen bike back.
-
To bad I hadn't cut the head yet. That would be really easy to spot for sale
I didn't realize you were running talon hubs. d**n I'm even more mad about this now.
-
Thanks guys.
Yes, I am a man of my word and I would hand them 1000 in cash to get my bike back.
On the bright side it gives me a good incentive to finish my AF project or I'll have to put some sand tires on my SM :-D
-
.....:(
Eyes & Ears here in Virginia!
DoldGuy
-
Awww man! That SUCKS. You know I will be looking and get the word out up here in the Seattle area. Going to send a note to a dirt riding buddy that makes the rounds too. Hope you get it back in one piece.
-
My '93 was stolen 6yrs ago this coming memorial day weekend. It was a hard pill to swallow.Had to eventually get over the anger because all I studied was getting somebody. I hope you find yours and the thief, maybe have a "creek bank" trial and conviction.
-
I posted on my Facebook for my Lane County friends to keep an eye out and of course everywhere else too. I will do the same.
-
Watching for it down here in socal. Those hubs would look nice on my bike.
-
Watching in Idaho.

They would look awesome on your bike.
If it gets parted out, I'd rather you have them then some Dink Winkerson 8-)
To the rest of you, thanks for your help.
You never know, it's probably about 100 to 1 that I would ever get it back but hey, roll the dice and see what happens :-D
-
mike...i would look here in germany but i dont think, that it would come here over the ocean (and because i still need a cheap good used k5 engine..)
if the thiev would really come with the bike and to take the 1000,- you and your employees should catch him..and make this tattoo into his face:
.. i stole mike´s bike and i got 1000 dollar for this tattoo ..
that would be better as 10 years in jail... :-D
-
Sorry to hear about your bike, I'll keep a lookout in the Canadian classifieds!
-
If you are not a member of PNWriders.com I will post to the site for you.
-
Will be watching in southern Oregon and will volentier to help take care of them if found.
-
I love the Tattoo idea
We have a couple of leads that we are looking into.
I doubt anything will turn up but who knows.
I'm not a member of PNWriders.com so if you could post of me there I'd appreciate it.
I have it posted all over Oregon on C/L but my ads keep getting flagged in a few towns.
I guess tweakers stick up for one another
-
yes the tattoo will sign him for life... :-D ...little bit mafia-methods , but he will think twice in the future, before go and steal the next bike ...
and i think it could be more near by you, as you think... did they stole only your kx500 or more of your inventory?
5 years ago had my local kawasaki-dealer these kind of night-visitors. 6 bikes and some new parts and clothes were stolen.. and at least , it would be found only 15 kilometers away in a barn...
-
Sorry to hear about that, it's always the favorite that gets jacked not the shiny new one in the corner. eyes n ears in las vegas good luck brotha
-
Posted with pictures to PNWriders. Shows up on the West Coast. Hope we get some action from it.

I don't go there much but do a friends request and I'll approve it at some point
-
I'll keep an eye out in Montana
-
Thanks!

Every time I come back here I hope to see the 'return' note. I realize most of the time it takes a while. Just do not want it to. :-)
-
Nothing would make me happier then getting it back, except for maybe catching the idiots responsible, putting them in jail, and getting it back :-D
If I get it back in reasonable condition I'll even be happier :-D

yeah,if it would be back soon, would the best to read here in the thread...
but you still have the governor, the clutchcover-bolts and kickstarter.. so this night-visitor-guys could also not ride with it...
i think they wait maybe 6 months or more and then starting to strip it and selling parts... we have to watch out for this coming periode...
-
If they ever show up for the reward tell them that you need to give them a receipt, you know just for tax purposes, ask for some ID just so you can spell they're name properly, you never know as the quote goes " stupid is, if stupid does"....
game trail cameras with infra red flash and video are very cheap. 1 in the shop 1 in the carpark area... at least you will have a face and a plate # to the crime.

One other thing I didn't mention is that the last time I rode I was going very fast and hit a huge rock....
Both tires went flat and I never fixed them.
So it may be a while before they decide to try and ride it.

I am working on security... I have two welder fabricators coming by tomorrow to help me with the security gates for the man door and roll up door.
And, Motorrad was helping me with additional security
-
to have the right security-tools is very important... you could also install move-sensors that will switch on big spotlights if someone comes more near then 10 meters to your shop .. i know nobody, that would stay and open a door without a key , when he is shown in bright light...
and serious: the thiefs should bring back your bike quiet in the night and never come before your eyes. i dont know, what i would do, if anyone steal one of my bikes and i catch him with it... sure would be this day he will never forget for the rest of his life... :-D
-
I will keep my eyes open in Arkansas, sorry for your loss!!!!
-
Thanks BillyHill...
-
Now it's time to get the security stuff done so I can play with the toys again...

-
Any leads or anything at all on your break in?
-
Not a thing....
Here is the current ad I'm running all over Oregon..
$1100.00 cash... in your hand... Party time..
Remember.. if you got tossed into jail for something, how long do you think it will take your buddy to strip you bare of everything you own?
Strike first and turn him him...
You will be happy and I will be happy.
It's a win win for both of us :-)
I'll let this ad sit for a while then up the reward again..
-
Same radiator shroud just popped up on ebay

Another nice catch.
I don't think it's mine based on the other parts he has for it but I have him saved as a favorite seller.
If he lists anything new I'll see it.
Thanks for the heads up.
-
I was going to post up a Craig's list add with your bike for sale. But then decided I don't want the police knocking on my door.
-
I think I'd be more worried about the angry, disgruntled KXRiders mob that could be willing to take the law into their own hands over this situation, rather than the cops...at least the cops will bring you safely to justice.....well, hopefully anyways.

That would be plain out and out mean.... Funny... but real mean

Yeah... as much as I would like to give some tweaker a knuckle sandwich and a taste of my riding boot, that's what officers are for.... To protect the guilty from the soon to be guilty
-
Making it harder...
No impossible to break in but definitely more difficult
-
nice....around here, we call that "deterrent".
maybe run a nice flow of electrical current through it that'll singe some arm and leg hair...
-
you need a big fence and 3 dogs.
1 should be small and ferocious a fox terrier maybe
1 should be very big and salavatingly ferocious anything with rottwieler, mastiff, dane just big.
and the last should be a doberman or rhodesian ridge back.
the first 2 are self explanatory the last ones are for when the crims have gotten into the yard and have found the small yappy dog that has just been suddenly backed up by a BIG dog only to turn around and find a doberman or ridgeback patiently waiting for the show to begin.
I have had ridgebacks for years. the reason they were used for hunting lions is they are just too smart, not saying they didnt get hurt, but they must have had some really smart dogs to go hunting lions with.
there is a dog for every need.... love my dogs.... :-D
-
Gotta get one of these...

I'm always watching craigslist for 250's and 500's so I'll look a little closer from now on.
Sniper kitty sucks. It's always shooting birds and nothing else :P

Thanks for the heads up.
Unfortunately it's not mine
-
Dang! Just got all excited because CL had a picture of YOUR bike! Thought I hit the jackpot for a second there. It was also YOUR ad for the return of your bike. Still looking. Still hoping.
-
Thanks man.
I really appreciate it.
I doubt it will show up on line any time soon but every two weeks I keep raising the reward :-D
