do people put the same 2stroke oil in the gear as they put in the gas or separate gear oil just wondering ,im gonna have a go at tunenin my carb tomorrow aswell
-
no....your manual probably calls for 10W-40 or 10W-30.
I used Bel-Ray 80weight for years...until this last rebuild....I'm now running 10W-40.

am running it on putoline gp10 but I think it may be too lean very thin it is think I should go up 10 to be sure.im running on putoline but I might change to rockoil cos I like the smell on 2strokes,ganna have some fun with the tick over n pilot screw tomora give ther new years hangovers revs arr yeaa
-
GP10 is a gearbox oil, so what has that to do with a engine running lean?

how often would change your gear oil on a 2stroke I don't ride often at the moment but when I do mebees 3-4 hours once a week
-
The more often the better.
I change my sand bike oil after every coast or desert trip.
My Street tard about every 10 hours or when it starts looking bad.
-
yea I change my 4stroke every ten hours but 2stroke thers new oil going in every time you put new gas in so just gear n filter change really isn't it ive still got a 4stroke atm but dnt wanna ride it incase it breaks lol ..

depends on what clutch plates are in it. and how you ride.
if your a clutch abuser. OFTEN. if your a clutch abuser with alum clutch plates. VERY VERY OFTEN.
my bike. not very often.

there's gonna be "some" change in color, unless it's turning light grey or white (not good)....but typically.....
color change = oil change!

its brand new looks light grey to me like

ugh ....check the water level in your radiator...bet it's low....down low into your gearbox making your brand new oil light grey :x
that would be your water pump/impeller shaft seal leaking.
-
water level in thers fine everythings brand new full rebuild iv rode it like 2hours if that on brand new oil il try take a pic see if you can judge for yourself it might not be somuch of an issue I just like things perfect lol
-
pics would be good.

oils fine budd ive been running putoline but I fancy rock oil I like the smell when its burnin lol
-
Been using Pennzoil out board motor oil.
its cheap
-
I wouldn't use pennzoil in a free Yamaha. It's garbage I wouldn't even call it oil. Blown many transmission and engines up when I first started riding/working on 2 strokes back when I was 12. Changed to Spectro and never blew another one up. Now 23 years later, it depends on the machine and what mods it's got done to it as to what oil I use.
