Title: 500AF fails me again!!!!
Post by: kxpegger on December 21, 2013, 12:37:08 PM
Getting a little annoyed with these 500 failures!!!!!

This pic shows where the spring used to be!

This pic shows where I found some of the spring pieces, inside the hole at the top of the case!

This pic shows what's left of the spring after it got chewed up by the gears! Luckily no gear damage and I don't think any of the spring pieces made it into the transmission!

Just had the exact same thing happen to me about 2 months ago, luckily an easy fix however.

sorry to be off topic....but in the first pic, your engine mount brackets...is that a loose spacer from the bracket to the engine in there? is this a service honda frame?

It's snug and it is a Service Honda. It's built on a 2008 KX450F frame. I bought it in early 2009 and had the choice of going with the 250 frame. This bike is not a garage queen and routinely has the snot beat out of it here in the Las Vegas desert. All the welds although not pretty show no signs of fatique. Everything is holding up well so far except the stuff I personally destroy. :-D
