Hmmm Im not a ford guy. But I like their 7.3. and this truck is kinda a deal?
hard to tell in the pictures (undercarage) if thats the original black, or they spray painted to make everything look good???
from my research.. the 2000 is a good year.
bigger turbo and injectors thatn the 99yr. and the last year of the forged rods.
also intercooled (unlike pre99)..

should Note. I was looking at lowish milage chevy 1500's with a 5.3l but for a very minor price differance, I may be able to jump up to big diesel ford country

Your next truck?
-
Man that is shady. Looks like that truck got mangled pretty bad. Airbags deployed too. Looks like they did a nice job fixing it, but good thing you checked the VIN #.....
-
And since they fixed it to sell it, the undercarriage probably does have a fresh coat of black spray paint on it.
-
Is the 6.0 power stroke as big a deal breaker as I think it is??
-
If they have not chipped it without doing the egr cooler delete and arp head bolts, it would not be a deal breaker for me.
-
Is the 6.0 power stroke as big a deal breaker as I think it is??
6.0l is a deal breaker.........The turbo has self adjusting vanes that get sticky with soot.....then they either freeze open or closed.......so either no bottom end or no top end.....and that's only some of the problems......

the 6 speed is gold.....finding one is like finding a jeff ward bike. If I could inexpensively swap in a 6 speed into my truck I would. I don't think the exhaust brake is a deal breaker. Check to see if it is an aftermarket exhaust brake because one of the popular mods on those trucks is this.......on the exhaust side of the turbo there is a flapper called an EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve). Its job is to partially close on start up to aid in engine warm up.......It is controlled by an electronic actuator. Some people wire it up to close using a switch acting like an exhaust valve....funny thing is the fancy one by BANKS works the same d**n way.

a 7.3 with a manual would be good for me.
I REFUSE to own one with an auto. I Personaly have had to change too many ..
same reason I wont own a duramaxx. Personaly have seen WAY too many injection / Head issues.

Youd think building dozens of D-max's a year I could agree but I digress. Yes we have an aluminum hardness tester. We also innovated LB7 "screw in" injector cups. Its all filtration LLY 2004
Have fun with with the cracked heads & lovely injectors . I also do all the magging. 1 set I've seen "not" cracked 7.3 anyway. Did I sat we dont build ford. Dmax & Cummins only
I know I sound like an asshole but your 5.3 was a better plan. Really though your fun

Because a 700r4 did not have issues at all :-D
700r4 was a great tranny. before they hung all those electronics on it and turned it into the 4L60 with servos and such that die at every 60,000
one in my current tow rig has 260,000 miles on it and runs perfect.
most people fry them from driving around town in overdrive.

Very true........although I have the 4L60E in my 95 Impala SS and I was able to get......wait.........yup, definitly not the greatest tranny. Thats why I wanna swap in a 6 speed out of a Camero one day. :-D

You haven't lived until you have had to "waste" $60 to smog a diesel........and the smog check is this........VISUAL for modifications, LOOK for a check engine light and rev truck to 1500 rpm then floor it to LOOK for black smoke.

Id like to hear more. Your not going to offend me. Im all for open conversatoin. so here is my personal experiances..
the only thing with the 5.3... is that suits me NOW. but in the next year Plus. I fear Ill outgrow it. and start WORKIGN it.
There have been 3 Dmax's in my family. 1 had a new motor, 1 had heads crack, and all 3 had injection issues. (more than once each).
one with the cracked head, never towed anything.
the other 2 tow VERY small camp trailers.
the few 7.3's Ive known. one broke the exh manifold bolts. but it deserved it. (foot on the floor driver, up the hills, runnin CRAZY EGT'S. I think the sustained egt's are what did it)... and every single one of them PUKED auto trannys all over the ground. many times
cummins. only seen one problem in the 4 I have had personal experiance with. and that was a cracked block. (he had one of the recalled blocks). dodge put in a new motor under warrenty.

what years are smog?

3-4 years ago we were buying 7.3 heads 5 sets at a time, they were all coming in cracked but we could pull the used injectors & ebay them for more than what we were paying for the heads by a bit. We bought like 20 heads & got one good set. We have 2 7.3 powerstrokes sitting on pallets Industrial Injection sent down to build but they're just sitting because of cracked heads. I'm just the dumb laborer that puts this stuff together but what I've seen aint pretty. No airs I drive an old wood panelled wagon that needs paint. I love fords 6 speed zf ,HUGE beast, dana 60's atleast on both ends but internationals motor
No auto dodges for sure. Dodge cant do them. Avoid 98-04 24v motors UNLESS theyre the HD model , heads crack pretty bad on the non HD.
Just didnt want to come across like I was peeing on your dream I know youve been looking for awhile. That is low miles for sure

If I'm reading this link correctly 1997 and older diesels with a GVWR of more than 14,000 don't need to be smogged. Here is the link from California DMV.......

And lets not forget that crazy ass weight fee we have to pay for 1 ton and above trucks in Cali,my fee is more then the registration is. :-o

my soninlaws family uses cummins.diesel power did an arcticle on one of his cousins trucks two years ago.from listening to those guys, my next truck will be a 97 or 98 12 valve.5 speed manual, they ere 100% mechanical 0 electronics.those years have the most desireable pumps according to my soninlaw.30 + mpg and over 1k ftlbs tourque , and be able to run on almost any type of oil [you might have to do a little of your own refining] sounds like the ticket for me :-)

While I the the 98 dodge had a pretty good motor the body still left something to be desired. 30 mpg sound like a pretty big stretch and 1000 ft lbs torque, you would have to jack them up pretty far to get that and then the mpg go away, they were somewhere around 700 ft bs stock.
I seriously considered a Dodge and a Chev in 08, i was trading a 05 Ford, Chev wouldnt give me anything for trade and when I went to Dodge I couldnt find a salesman, which I know is hard to believe, so I went next door and bought another ford, which was a joke, I couldn't pass anythinng and especialy a fuel station, so don't buy an 08-10 ford 6.4. the new ford with the 6.7 is a fabulous truck, great power and tranny, I can get an honest 19mpg at 75-80 mph and I get 9-11 pulling a 41' toy hauler. If I was looking for an older truck it would be a 7.3 withthe 5 speed, great truck although I never had any of the tranny problems others had even with the automatic.
-
I love the older 12 valve dodges. I've driven many of the newer ones that my company has and all I have to say is this.........They are cheaper than ford and chevy because they cut costs everywhere else like on interior quality. Even though the engine might last over 200,000 miles the body and interior only lasts about 50,000...hahahaha. I broke one recently becuase it was winter time and I started her up so she could idle for 5 minutes to warm up.......the exhaust filter got clogged while idling and it had to be replaced...not cheap.....you cant idle a diesel, thats like a total oxymoron.........When test driving brand new dually's from chevy ford and dodge I noticed that the dodge was noticably down on power compared to the others.....the dodge also had the smallest drivetrain components for example, the driveshaft on the chevy and ford are the size of telephone poles, the dodge has a driveshaft that looks like it came out of a car.......Now before everyone gets all butthurt let me say that I am not one of those truck 1 vs. truck 2 vs. truck 3 guy......I have driven and towed with every manufacture of truck and I can tell you that I hate the 6.0l powerstroke FORD, I hate the old 6.2l diesel CHEVY, and I hate all the newer BLUTECH Cummins DODGE trucks........
I think that the Blue Oval, Bowtie, Ram battles that people have all the time are kinda amusing though........
-
the 30 mpg and 1kft lbs has already been done by diesel power magazine. :-) i agree USMC the newer dodges have their problems.my soninlaw has on 04 with 600k on it and he just bought a 96 two wheel drive 3/4 ,to get the better gas mileage.for the interior problems you could always do the conversion. pick your favorite body and swap the cummins in. there are lots of kits out there for it. i am driving an 05 suburban Z71.that i love. [chevy guy at heart]if i still have it when the motor or tranny pukes, i will seriously look at doing the cummins swap :-D

just talked to POPS about the 7.3
(he ran one of the largest fleets (school) this side of the mississippi). they had many 7.3's in their buss's. as did all the other local VERY LARGE fleets.
needless to say. he gave a huge thumbs up to the motor. had many ABUSED school buss's with over 350,000 miles on em. without touching the motor.
only other he has done that to is the cummins in the doge's (he ran many of those also in buss's)
the only thing is those wheels. PUKE..
anyone know where I can find a set of these? (with good rubber). Im sure some "bro" out there is willing to trade.I am. and always been a OEM wheel guy..

That looks like a real nice truck, love the crew cab. I have bought brand new wheels and tires from Barber bros. Ford in Morgan UT, $300 for all four wheels, brand new tires center cap and lug nuts. 4 of my buddies also bought sets, evidently in UT they like jacked trucks and big tires, so the stockers are plentiful, or at least were. I ran my winter tires on them, and hyad added the tire pressure sensor, unfortunately on my 11 the tire pressure sensor doesn't work, but I check pressure anyway so no issue.

whats everyones thoughts on the 6.7 cummins and their new 6 speed trans. better than their POS 4 speed?

whats everyones thoughts on the 6.7 cummins and their new 6 speed trans. better than their POS 4 speed?

first year of the Blutec engine (emissions crap) that came with exhaust filters and crap......slightly underpowered when compared to earlier years and you cant idle them because you could possibly clog the exhaust filter.........My old company had to pay out the @$$ when they had to replace one of those filters.......
I would say stick to the 2006 and earlier trucks........Just my opinion since I drove many of the dodge trucks my company had both with and without the bluetec version.
-
Apparently. All the 6.7 was blue rec. 07 and up. 09 they locked out the ecu (no programmers) Just the badge blue tec floated in n out. They all are sensor emissions nightmares
Shame. The 6 speed auto has good reviews
absolute shame.
5.9 great motor, the 4 speed. CRAP.
6.7 not good motor, the 6 speed great.
why the hell cant any ONE manufacture get it all right in one shot?!
-
Starting to look heavy at the 06 ish. Duramax. seems they fixed all the injection issues by 04. Not straight axle like I wanted. But. May give thet up....

I can confirm how bitching the 6 speed in the dodge is......great tranny, sucky motor. I ended up hauling the company trailer with a 2012 duramax dually......good power, good tranny.....my only dislike about the duramax is that it sounds and feels like a gas motor.....To me the chevy trucks have always felt very "car like".....As far as the fords go.....
Love all the engines from 7.3l and earlier but hated the automatic trannys......I wish the 6.0l never existed but the 5 speed automatic was pretty good.....the 6.4l that they came out with had good power but was very fuel thirsty........this new 6.7l is super powerful and the tranny is awesome....but they are expensive and you have a complicated nightmare under the hood.
By the way, every truck I am speaking of I have driven and towed with......I am not going off of "tribal" knowledge, or "I heard from a buddy" crap.....
-
The 6.7 is pretty well the same as the 5.9 commonrail. Siamese bore & longer stroke really only dif. I can see what your saying about emissions though. The d-max has an awful lot of external balance weight after mid 05. 04-very early 05 is okay but after that they have a crank breaking & piston splitting rep that is deserved over 650 hp anyway.

tempting one owner truck out of reno NV. as long as its not a #53 block motor
NV4500 5 speed cummins. 4x4 62K miles. larame package (leather) with a 3.54 axle ratio (good for what I will use it for)

Those old fords are great I had a 73 with a 390 that I drove the piss out of most of the time pulling a concrete pump and about 350 feet of hose even with a cracked piston, the 79 was a 460 and it was a beast if that truck tickles your fancy go for it parts are cheap its easy to work on and with no rust its a no brainer.

I'm in Albany waiting for my GI Bill money that doesn't come while the government is shut down.
-
You ever race at Albany MX?
I've sponsored a few riders there...
-
No, I've never ridden a MX track. Both my KX250 and RM125 are down right now. I should have my RM up within a month, and I haven't opened up the KX yet to see what I damaged at my last dune outing.
The RM ran excellent when I took it a part. I'm doing the top end as preventive maintenance. It will be my introduction to MX. My KX is set up for woods.

Starting to look heavy at the 06 ish. Duramax. seems they fixed all the injection issues by 04. Not straight axle like I wanted. But. May give thet up....

216 miles 3 hours 12 min from me near our capitol.

that is way to much money for that truck. i have been watching craigslist for the past 2 yrs. [at least 3X a week] there are alot of cummins in the southern states for under 10k. the only reason i havent bought one yet is no money.i have been looking for 96-98 12 valve 5spds.i use search tempest craigslist, pretty close to what crazedlist used to be.

Problem is, I need somthing that can haul a 22Ft toy trailer in the future. as thats the direction Im going at the moment.
so that kind of killed the 5.3L 1500 trucks I was looking at.
Open to thoughts and oppinoins on other trucks.

But
its the 2006 LBZ duramax (the hotrod duramax)..
only 1 owner truck, 30,000 miles.
Camper shell. (means no 5th wheel hitch, so the truck hasnt been hauling the titanic around its entire life)
all the injection problems are fixed by this year..
exact body configureation I want (short bed, 2.5 door)
its 1 year before UGLY smog. so no nasty smog stuff. (easy things that bolt on and off every "smog check" year).. (Oh but that would be illegal... )
6 speed allison.
360hp
650 ftlb torque

I bet I can get it for 33,000 or 34,000
Financing would be 1.89% from my credit union (just checked)...
TALK ME OUT OF IT. tell me to go buy a $300 chevy pickup that needs plug wires...
-
had a van once....and I emphasize "once"...no head room, way too tight to try and stuff 3 bikes in when needed, if you build/install shelving..it narrows and cramps it even more.
My buddy still uses a van, and I dread it when we go in his ride.
If.."IF" I was ever going to go the van route again...I'd just get a used box/cube van that has the built in ramp that you pull out from under it and hooks flush onto the back edge of the floor. At least then you have the width and height to move around.
But I don't ever see a van in my future again...at least not until I'm too old too even throw a leg over a seat or wipe my own a$$.....then you'll see me in one of these...

$30,000 + for something that will depreciate in very short order, will cost a fortune to insure and maintain?
Are you out of your mind?

I don't see what's hard about it. They are low to the ground and you can get a van you can stand up in.
Check this thread out. Look through multiple pages too see some variety.: http://www.southbayriders.com/forums/threads/108031/
You can fit 3 bikes in the back and extra gear on the top roof rack while still seating 5 people. Your bikes are out of sight so opportunistic thieves don't get the inclination, and you can still tow a trailer if need be.
You can get them in 4x4, but a 2wd is dirt cheap compared to a truck.
But I know it's cool to have a truck because it looks cool and fist bumps. A lot of guys egos won't allow it.

Sold my GT 750 a few months ago and helped the guy load it into a pickup with a low canopy. Got it in and it was standing up but it was a struggle to get in. Since I am getting 'Age Challenged' I want things to get easier to do, not harder. Have considered putting a lift in the carport so it is easier to wash off the bikes! Yikes! Bought my house for $60K in the 80's. Two years ago we bought a new rig for $50K. Ten years before that we paid $30K for a similar rig. Lots of nice creature comforts, comfortable to drive all day. My 1994 pickup worked ok, but it was not near as nice to drive over long distances. It is the same with everything. A 16” TV works fine too. How many big screens are out there now? What? $600+ for a TV?!?! Are you crazy?!?! I am sure you get my point. I would get a low toy hauler trailer if they weren’t so big and a pain to move around the yard. I use an 8’ trailer with two tire chocks bolted in now for my main motorcycle mover. Go for the extra stuff and the one you want. After ten years you will look back and think it was a good thing.
-
Imagine a truck like this with the rear most axle removed.
A buddy of mine bought a semi rig with a new engine and brakes for 10k.
He removed the rear most axle and moved the tail lights up to their new position.
It took him about a day to do it.
Now he pulls his 40 ft horse trailer with living quarters fully loaded and it's nothing for that truck.
Parts are relatively cheap, easy to find, and extremely durable.
The real beauty is because he removed the rear most axle he doesn't need a CDL.
Just think what you could do with something like that :-o

I really like that ^^ , I have used a minivan to haul a single bike or quad, banshee, with good results. Yeah you gotta roll the handle bars but so what. I'm using an old station wagon with hoops on the rear bumper right now & really like it. Hauler & a place to sleep :-D
I'm gonna say sorry for suggesting a d-max after this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ijlhugi85I4
70 or so dyno pulls & 150 mph plus runs down the strip & they fail , probably the assemblers fault not the 7 stages of nitrous
-
anyone have a 8.1 chevy?
motor specs look good. as its iron block Iron head. Lots of LS technology. (ports etc).
its essentially a stroked 454.
They came bolted up to the ALLISON tranys (big plus).
guys running tuners on them are showing 500lb torque.
and getting around 12-mpg Unloaded).
and they are CHEAP vs the dieses in the used market.
ran the break even point on a few I was looking at vs the few diesels I was looking at.. and if you don't count maininance (which the diesel is $$ more) the break even point on milage would be around 130,000 with unloaded millage only calculated.
would suck at the pump. if you cant remind yourself every time you fill it up that it is better in the long run.
thoughts?
Ive never driven one. so I cant comment.
Id like something PRE-SMOG. But. I need osmthing the entire family will fit in.. and I don't have to WORK on. maintenance is fine. I just have enough vehicle projects that need WORK that I don't need my tow rig etc to be one of htem.
-
For the engine trivia, before it was ready for production, the 8.1L had to pass the ``Marine Dock'' test, in which it is run at full throttle for 300 consecutive hours, and a minimum of 1000 hours at full-throttle operation for truck applications
-
MMMMMMM BBC , I love me some BBC
Id go with the 454 version as tha 8.1 is an odd duck though & about nothing else bbc fits
Cool trivia, thats why i think honda cars are bulletproof , dont have the power to blow themselves to smitherines

A hospital I worked at in Maine in 2002 had a new 01 Chevy PU with the 8.1/Allison tranny...it breaks down to a 496cu.
I will say, it was, and still is the fastest most powerful stock gas (and diesel for that matter) PU I have ever driven.
Not that you care to know....but I'd take it out on a daily basis just to go out and lay down some INSANE posi strips around Bar Harbor....and feel the rush of the "plastered in the seat acceleration" and HEALTHY shifts.
I did this for nearly 2 years with that thing, and never had any issues....it took the abuse like a typical Chevy. And I know I wasn't the only employee that took it out for a beating either.

The 06 and up ones came with the 6 speed Allison.

dont want a quad cab. too long WB.
I know what ya mean about the doors. buddy had a 2008? 2009? truck. Id always go back to shut the doors a second time, cuz then never went "thud" shut like all my 1972 chevys etc.

I'll never get an extended cab again if I can help it. Trying to open a regular door and then a rear door up against a car in a parking lot to load some items is a huge pain and sometimes impossible.

How was the 460?
Never been a ford motor fan. they always use more fuel and make less power that the SBC and BBC equivilant. But perhapse Im just stuck on what I have been told since I was 2 yrs old.

-
How was the 460?
Not bad ermmmhhh, the best ford engine. the rods are kind of lightweight & intake port angle is into the side of the cylinder instead of shooting into the middle like half the ports on a bbc . Plenty of room for a stroker crank, the one you posted is to long
& an auto though. Thats actually one of the only ford motors I would use. If the trans is the c6 you got something but aod...
Go 70's high boy ford with a 460 & you got something

That looks like a nice truck, hard to tell with the pictures but body looks straight, interior looks good, only thing I saw was the corrision on the wheels which isn't a big deal,
I would run and hide from the ford 460, I had 3 in the late 80's early 90's good trucks bought a new one in 97, biggest pile of crap, no power, single digit fuel mileage empty or loaded. thats what drove me to the diesel.

I'm off the understanding these years had a flaw and head replacement and everything else done to it are the best fix money can buy
Kind of like 2001 duramax. E fix its too replace the heads
Perhaps the Ford boys can chime in on this?
-
Somebody buy that and bring it up to Canada. Round 2 in phoenix.

Had me a truck like that once.
-
Yell at me. I'm starting to get frustrated in all the trash out there and looking at heavily discounted 2013's.
Sad. Part is they sent much more that 06-09 trucks with 100k miles. Used diesel prices are insane

I want that really bad, but it'd get annoying being stopped all the time to talk about it.

It's hard for me to believe that a truck cost's more then my first new house :|
Are you dating yourself? My parents bought their first house here in San Diego on 1/2 acre. For 23,000$ and was above the mediun house level. Their place is worth about $850,000 now. And medium house here today in this economy is 450-500000$ cousin just bought a house for $515,000. And is now painting the entire thing redoing the floors. Electrical etc. Scary money
-
Perhaps.... Then again our home values are a small fraction of yours...
-
okay back to serious discussion.
Low milage diesel trucks are priced to the moon. to the point that buying a leftover 2013 would make more scense.
BUT that is way WAY WAY more freeking money than I want to spend.
so.
I like the 8.1L 4x4 2500HD chevys. but they are like Hens teath. rare as hell. and when you find them, they are still expensive around 18-22K.
Looking for HONEST oppinions on the V10 triton fords.
Lots. and I mean LOTS of them around here, in immaculate shape, F250, 4x4. etc. with under 50K miles on them for in the $16K range (asking) which means 14 to me
power numbers look very close to the 8.1l chev.
as long as you stick to the right year range
(I know usmc drove one and doesnt like it, im curios if it was the s**tty power years 97-99?
All the 3v V10 motors starting in Late 2004 are rated as 362HP and 457 Ft Pounds torque
Before this change to 3 Valve heads the 2v V10 from 2000 to 04 was rated at 310 HP and around 425 Ft pounds
The early 97-99 motors were rated between 275 and 295 HP
do you know if the same s**tty trans behind the Power stroke is on the V10? or worse?
I hear the 04 and up 5R110 TorqShift 5 speed oppinoins on that?
-
I did drive one of the early triton V10's......It just felt like the thing couldn't get out of its own way......wasn't a fan....and even though its not really a big deal, I'm not a fan of the exhaust note the V-10's put out....I'm just screwy like that. Not to mention that the one I drove go HORIBBLE gas mileage. :-D
-
Have a 99 with the V10. Second owner. Put Thorleys on it and S&B intake. Added flow thru muffler.
Got a tune. 4 speed auto. Goes pretty well. Towed 9000 a few times, no problem. Tritons like to rev.
Very little problems, but I take care of the truck. Gas about 10 in town, 14 highway, not towing.
Can't get the V10 to sound like a V8 but it ain't horrible. Ford Truck Enthusiasts website is great, kinda like this one is for KX500's...check it out and go from there. Good truck. Good luck.

Hmm. I have a 5 speed manual nv4500 that would fit it ion my garage floor. And could come up with 4x4 stuff in a week. Hmmm

Hmmm. Could be converted to 4x4 very easy
-
More info on that truck
It's not a Cummins conversion.
It's a 73 ford body set on a 1989 dodge d250 chassis
So everything under the body is stock 1st gen dodge.
The bed was a long bed and was shortened to fit. Is now approx 5.8' long
And it's 2wd
Has rear air bags for towing even though he never has with it yet
Not sure how I feel about the 1st gen chassis
-
here are some better pictures.
alex. id love your oppinion on this thing. since you own a 89 ..
if it was 4x4 id be ripping my pocket to go buy it. trying to tell myself I can live without 4x4.
not sure how hard it is to convert the 1st GEN dodge D250 to 4x4????
http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/trucks-buggies/214148.htm
-
SWEET! You can do a 4x4 conversion really easy if u wanted. All the right stuff is there. Since he used the 89 chassis it is not all hacked. I would do an intercooler and and a few tweeks and run the crapp out of it.

but not unreasonable
would need a doner truck to make it feasible
contacted the guy. we shall see how flexible he is. and if I can scratch up the cash

That is a nice looking truck. The engine is reliable as hell until you start squeezing 350hp out of stock injectors with no intercooler.
As far as 4 wheel conversion I'd get a solid front axle in good shape and a divorced transfer case. Cut the IFS off it and weld in some spring buckets or go the leaf spring route and not worry about link bars and coil springs. Dodge frames are pretty solid. The bodys rot off pretty fast though. I'd have to see it in person to justify that kind of coin though.

These old trucks are really cool. One thing that always bothered me is how easy they'd be too steal though.
Edit: Probably not a typo since $4,400 would be on the cheap side.

Not a typo......truck is clean and has lots of custom body and interior work.......I disagree that it is 44k clean but people these days think all their crap is worth millions of dollars.

If you wanted to steel my 1967 fj40. You would give up.
Pedal lock
Tranny lock
Cable the steering wheel
Ignition switch cutout
And hidden fuel pump cut. So if you o manage to get through the first 4. It runs out of gas in a block

There was one in california adventure @ grizzley rapids I drooled over it for years & they pulled it last year, fags. Really build a 12V add dana 60's & ROCK the land cruiser. 4bt would do all you need & the nv4500 , you want to tow ? stretch it a little flattie fenders are great that way.

There is already a nv4500 in it

How much could it possibly be
http://www.gorockauto.com/mobile/details/?vin=1GTHK29D77E161554

I bet the book on it is either side of $25k...
then again, mines valued at $22K with the imperfections and 2WD....so it's probably closer to $27K-$28K
-
How much could it possibly be
http://www.gorockauto.com/mobile/details/?vin=1GTHK29D77E161554
just did a book value on it....came out just over $31K. Now, that was determined by if YOU owned it, and wanted to sell it privately....that's what it's considered it's worth...not that you would necessarily get that.
that is a sweeeeeet truck...If there was one thing I could change about mine, it would be going from the Crew Cab to the Extended Cab....I really have no use for the full 4 door.
-

4 door is nice and roomy. but I dont want the added lenth in the wheel base. so short bed extra cab is what I want. since the kiddies are the only ones I care about being comfy back there. and they are both still young.
just called on it. asking price is 32,900

I had my dads boss/partner do the value since they buy, sell, auction, finance, and transport cars and trucks all over New England...and figured he'd give an accurate price, and seems to have hit it pretty close.
I hear ya, mines got a 6 1/2' bed, which is what I wanted, I just don't need all that room inside the cab since it's just me.

I looked up the value on that truck and he is a little proud as fair value is about 30-31K.

now you sound like me....my 01 was white, didn't really care for it...now my 07 is white too :x....I wanted the dark green.
the blue isn't bad...there's a ton of them runnin around here...looks like it could use a 2 1/2" leveling kit up front, and tinted windows would enhance the look too.
-
Ran some numbers.
I can finance it for 1.89% 72 month
So if I get it for 29000.
With taxes and a 1500 down payment
Monthly payment would be 438.35
Hmmm
-
No pressure.... Do it...Do it...Do it...Do it...Do it...Do it...Do it...

If you think you can swing it, I'd say go for it...you know just as well as I do, that finding an LBZ that clean with that little miles is getting harder and harder to find.
The only thing I would want to know, is why it's being sold with so little miles...was it a bank repo?, a lease that ran it's course?, did the previous owner just want something different?, or some unknown issue not mentioned?
-

you see quite a few around here like that. Most are some guys dream truck he buys. and hardly ever drives (old guy) that lives in a garage. or some guy my age, that was dreaming and then couldnt afford the payments. Or some Sailor with the same thing.
This one doesnt have black out rims, or a lift, etc. so its bone stock tells me its the old guy thing.
I ran a car fax on it. it wasnt a lease . those are pretty good about telling you that. and it was a one owner vehicle.
It did fail a smog if you look at the car fax. that could have been exhaust, or a egr delete...... the smog guys here in cali are so jumpy now a days. they tryed to fail my uncles 2002 duramax for not having a cat. took him 2 hours to convince them it never did.
-
hmmm, I didn't see the CARFAX tab the 1st few times...after looking at it, sounds like it's time to call em up, and tell them to get the paper work started....unless you just can't accept the blue color. :?
-

wernt you the one telling me not to buy an expensive truck, and to buy a $200 chevy beater a few pages back!??!??!!!

Yep... All true..
So, why encourage you to drop a huge coin?
1. I like the truck, including the color.
2. I built my first house 30 years ago. That same house today would probably cost several times that.
3. A old truck fixed up is really cool.... Not having to wrench on one is even cooler..
-

d**n Dave your just masterbating over truck porn :-D. Got the 1899hp d-max back & down last week man what a tough f-in block want pics??? Been looking overland for the last few, your cruiser is a sweet idea , I'll give you a dmax minus injection, serious. LLY if you gotta look , local pick up on your way to the flats though
-
Just having s hard time with the who le 30k thing
-
It's torture....
-
I couldnt do it, 30k, the investment vs the reward. Why do you think the populous had to bail out the auto industry. Minimum wage = guess ? 17500 a year. New ride = 3 times that for std diesel truck. Realistically, Axles $2500, nice body $5000 slip over the border $2000?, awesome motor $15000, what you gonna do? TBI 350 starts to look sweet at $3000. Do you really have to pull the hills at 85mph. Consumer based economy & biased to the "loan" system. Mike is right cheap wheels are the better deal. Dave Ramsey is a good read in the own your ride aspect. Really Id give you a good dmax cause the injection & turbo s**t is so expensive, sucks but the waste is omnipresent here.
-
I read his stuff. And I'm actually following most of it
1. It's over 4 years old (7to be exact) so it's done it's initial depritiation in value
2. Its much less than half our yearly household income. (Less than half of just the wife's income alone) even if I didn't count
3. 1.89% finance. That's like d**n near free money. (Not like my buddy's car loans. One is 9.5% other is at 12%). Dumb bastards
4 . I will probably with my past history own this thing for the next 20yrs. I find things I like and keep hold
5 but god d**n that's allot of money
The main reason I want it isn't for me. To be some as s hat in a diesel truck
But to take family on vacations. Take my kids out to ride every weekend. Teaching them to ride. Going to the snow. The sierras and Colorado and Utah it will not be a daily driver. I have other vehicles for that. Oh and I own all my other vehicles outright.
But d**n that's a lot of money
-
Pay extra on your home loan is all I can manage, still stuck on the 1 month savings. I saw what you were driving & it is smart choices . Tried to sell my kids on the buick 3.8 :? kids think your dumb though. Lotta cash for sure but if the life adventure gain is immortal drag that baby home.
-
Buick will still be around. I have $1200 in that car. And that was the parts to fix it and new tires.
Was given to me. And only has 65,000 miles on it.
Ugh this sucks. Everything my family likes to do is reliant on having a truck or tow vehicle. And now with little ones it has to seat 4 which is the big issue. Rules out allot of cheap trucks I'd buy. (Smog exempt BBC trucks to be exact)
-
Didnt they do the quad cab c3500 in 73 , re-vin the cab on a 91 whos to know? I've given up on fast in the camp wagon department, quadrajet 350 sm465 np 205 3/4 ton dana44 & corp 14. For me it came down to ease of what I have $$$ & parts availability. I have a blazer"K5" but I want a quad cab sub to cut down & re home my running gear. It really seems for me I'm getting pointed in the recycle direction my fast car is a salvaged northstar motor with a quad4 trans in a mg midget, weird but the recycle crap just keeps falling out of the sky. The camp wagon is new motor 77,000 mile gear humvee cheap ass tires & runflats. Tree hugger conundrum do you still love 2 smoke? How far would the extra cash take you adventuring if you went where you're thinking. The love leads to freedom not debt
