I think I saw that one on craigslist.
I'd ride dunes if people are making a trip and want a tag along kx250(finances and time permitting). I'm in Albany and have family in Tillamook and Coos Bay so it's usually a productive trip.

I am shooting for this saturday

I sure hope it's going to be florescent lime green...
-
What is the extension by the neck for? I'm assuming its for an oversized tank.

I hope you're not referring to the "Ghost scheme" that was short lived in popularity back in the mid-late 90s :-P....and that horrible translucent plastic that Acerbis came out with, that would shatter if you breathed on it too hard

maybe you guys on the west coast were never introduced to the "Ghost" sheme...Kevin Hines was one of the 1st shops to use it....everything was fluorescent green and translucent...giving it a "glowing" affect....it looked cool when it first came out,but the plastics would shatter way too easily, so it faded out of popularity pretty quickly.

one week later and done...

Nice , & right quick build too.
Question on the shock body coating. What is it powder, anodizing? Something applied at a low temp I'd assume as to not anneal the AL.
Also was this bike actual "factory" or just replication. Just curious with the radiator , subfame bracing & that shock body.
You need some lighting :-D
-
The bike was built in the team green shop by Dayton Rapper for a buddy with the race bike mods with the exception of a couple of things, like bigger radiators. The suspension was revalved and the shock body looks like it has been anodized, I powder coated the spring. I did a 4th gear run down a sandy whoop section about 3/4 of a mile long out at the dunes in Florence, Oregon and it soaked it up super sweet. I had the intake off and there has been some port work done. The top end will come off soon for a few things and the flywheel weight will come off too. I did not look at the jetting, was going to but the plug looked good so I was just gonna roll with it. If I blew it up it would have been a better reason to overhaul the engine. But, it did not after a tank at the dunes , dang it. :x Fun bike, the guy I got it from saw it last night and said, "d**n dude, how much to buy it back?" I told him $3000   I still have it, for now......

nice job!!...I like the look of the powder coat....don't see it like that very often.
but you gotta tell me...all my life I've wanted to ride on my local beach...what's it like to ride 5ft from the surf??.
I've lived within 2 miles of the ocean my whole life here around Cape Cod, MA, looks just like your pics...but if I even thought of rippin down the beach, the SWAT team would surround me, probably beat me to a bloody pulp, destroy my bike, and then treat me to the same equality as being a murderer, or a child molester!!...the law doesn't take too kindly to dirt bikers round these parts at all.Luckily 75% of my family is in law enforcement, and I work for the Trial Courts of Massachusetts...but I could still never get away with roostin on the beach.

All back together, heat cycles in the morning. First build set me back about $1000. This one, $600ish. But, many happy new parts in the engine.

Looks good. What oil will you run for the heat cycles?
-
First heat cycle down, started second kick. Larry's comp mod will be in my future I believe. For pre-mix I run my Amsoil dominator. On old cast sleeved cast rings you would not want to run synthetic, but on a plated cylinder with moly rings, it really does not matter what u run. Some don't out of old habit, but I have not seen any difference between one or the other on newer engines. Can't wait to see how she runs when I let her stretch her legs out.
-
I had to use 927 to break in my engine... Couldn't find any good non synthetic oils locally and didn't want to use lawn mower oil :-(
