I'm running a kdx250 stator on my kx. It powers only my headlight. Tthe rest of my lights are on a stand alone system powered by a battery pack. My question is, if I run a rectifier/regulator and a small motorcycle battery, can I run the whole system off the stator lighting lead and charge the battery at tje same time? Or am I just wishing the impossible? :?

Working on the same thing with an rmx250. I found this guys work helpful, I havent got to try it yet though. I found some alternate battery options to what he's running though

I really think you'd need rewind that stator to have enough juice to burn some off with the rectifier, something like this down lower in the thread

Does it work? I dont know , but I'm goona try it this way. It also needs 2 outs from your stator , you have to float the ground, one side of the stator goes up through the rectifier & battery to ground the other goes through your headlight.

I am not using the two tail light wires from the stock kdx harness. Looks easier than I was thinking. I know about the regulator/rectifier from radioshack. It's a common upgrade for ct90's. Wiring that in behind my voltage regulator would be easy. And it looks as if rewinding the stator maybe necessary. Not sure. I am running the tusk kit like your link shows. Just finding a battery to fit my bike may be the hardest part.

I'm looking at using a cheapie sealed lead acid like ^xr^ did. Just ebay search 12V sla battery , it's like powerchair batteries powerwheels type that I'm looking at, & look at the sizes to get close to what you want. I was thinking of using a pair a RC car 7.2v & series wiring them , but where the other batteries are only in the 2 lb range & cheap I see no reason not to use them. I know chinese battery, but even if you just pitch in the recycle bin once a year. They do make some nice LIion? but like $80 a pop just to pass inspection FFF that.

This one here is quite small

I added the bridge rectifier today. May still upgrade the battery. But with the bike and battery in place, I get 13 volts dc. With just running the battery, it is 11-12 volts dc.
