Title: Other Models to replace 2005 KX250 shock
Post by: scoob55k on June 20, 2013, 12:12:20 AM
I have a 2005 KX250 2-stroke and need a shock for it. What other years/models will fit as a direct replacement and all I would have to do is put my spring on it?

I am thinking maybe 06-07 KX250 2-stroke, 04-05 KX250F, 06-08 KX450F, and 04-06 RMZ250. Thinking maybe 03-04 KX250 2 stroke. I looked up the part numbers on Kawasaki.com and are are very common except for the resevoir, cynlinder, and/or rod.  :?

The 04 KX250 2t shock will bolt on and be the correct length. The 03 is a different length and is designed to work with a different linkage arrangement. Im running a 04 shock on my 07 250. The lower mount bolt is different between the 2. 04 shock use 04 bolt.

Aloha!  :-D

Thanks for the reply my flyin' friend. Thinking based on what you say, I should be good.

I found a shock off a 2006 KX250 smoker. Based on your comments, I would think there may be a pretty good chance the 2004-2007 shocks are the same lengths. I'll have some high and low speed compression damping now!

I guess my thoughts on using the thumper shocks was only half right. From what I have read, thinking it would bolt up at both ends, just not at the same time due to length. I saw 10mm too long. I could always shorten one of those shocks if in a pinch. Definately slim pickens out there for KX smoker shocks...

Laters!  :-P
