Title: K5 engine in RM250 chassis
Post by: NCwoods on April 05, 2013, 06:12:34 AM
Hello,

I have installed a K5 in a 2001 RM250, anyone else try this? I had the Suzuki, and thought it would be a cool project. It was actually very easy and a huge amount of stuff fits. I'm curious if anyone tried this what they did to fit the throttle cable.

Hello.
And welcome to the site.
I haven't tried it but there was a guy who was selling one on Craigslist about 6 months or so ago.
If you liked the way the 01 handles then you'll really like the performance difference with the K5 engine.
Do you have any pics of the bike or pics of the build in progress?
If so, post them so we can see. :-D

Yes, I do have some pics however I am at work (not working) I will add them tonight. I have Ohlins TTX suspension and thinking of white plastic. I am a little nervous about the pipe. I had to use a CR500 pipe from DEP, and I cut the cylinder end off and welded one on from a KX pipe from FMF. It all fits and looks ok, but I added about 1.5" of header section. No telling how that will influence power.
